Not a bad price if you need it right now but the price will get lower. Same regular price as last year at 59.99. My notes show the lowest price last year was around Jan 2 at 22.49 at newegg.

Thanks. Usually not the lowest price but now I won't be checking here once a week and wind up buying junk I'll never use. Saving me money.

Absolutely no reason to buy this tax software early, last year I was hoping to calculate my taxes before the year end around December to adjust my stocks portfolio on capital gains/lost so I bought H&R Block early in Nov last year, only to find out that it basically could not do ANY tax calculations until an update in Jan next year. It couldn't even import data until then. Simply put, no reasons to buy this now, you cannot use it now, can't use the software to calculate tax until Jan next year

there is one actual reason to get it now - prices won't get much better than this all the way through april

if you know you're sticking with h&r bkock, i would recommend you just get it now and save all the time/effort of finding a better deal over the next 5 months

How?.
Most likely by the people who kept screaming, "HOLD!!!," convincing many of us that if we just waited, we would get it for under $20. Plenty of us waited and that day never came.

The best discounts have definitely been pulling back in recent years. With their success in getting the IRS free file competition killed, I would definitely not bank on pricing getting much better.
I want to do preliminary estimating to allow for end of year changes - realizing capital gains, making donations. In past years, I was also adjusting withholding to avoid penalty (and then reducing them again in January). I'd probably wait until January if that were not the case.
As I recall, Amazon often posts competitive deals, so I'll give this a day or two. Amazon is currently full price, though has offered 20% cash back with their Prime Visa for a week or so.

Do you want to give examples and names of sites and blogs where this is reported? I'm a bit lost. But it sounds very bad.
Can't recall. Saw one or two and thought to myself, "no, I'm not going to fall for that one."

Been monitoring deals for the Premium & Business version for years and it started at $45 and crept up to $50 in 2024. Pulled the trigger here at $50 for 2025. Inflation.
What inflation? Now, most of the coding is done by AI, and programmers are being laid off. They are trying to squeeze the most $$ out of consumers.

There are plenty of free options, like FreeTaxUSA or https://www.irs.gov/filing/irs-di...e-for-free

You can write off those tax soft expenses when you do your return.

After years of buying and using this, always wait until January for the best price, sometimes February. $21-23 is a good target for Deluxe + State. You won't even have your W2 in most cases until then, so not worth purchasing sooner unless you're trying to do a bunch of scenario planning now.
