This is a good product. I have this model and got it for a little more than this. I recommend getting the model with the switchbot so you can press or press and hold the power button in addition to WOL.

This device is great, but I couldn't get it to boot from ISO with onboard storage. Had to use a thumb drive. I also had issues with the display at the beginning but it is a little better after an update. Finally, this thing doesn't have a way to turn off the LED. The LED flashes when it can't connect to the internet. I don't allow mine to have internet access so it always flashes! Good product, not a 10/10, but does the job. Gl.inet support is meh. Responsive but a little stuck up? I'm not sure how else to call them.

Is the latency and stream better than just say Moonlight or whatever those Nvidia broadcast based software streaming solutions?

I get that you have more access like you can boot up the machine or whatever. I'm just interested in low latency gaming with reasonably low compression artifacts.

I guess it's more secure? Maybe?

Remote work. Still works even if the PC is frozen, and can even access the PC's bios if needed.

Yes, though for a laptop, I'm not sure if it can do a force power cycle if the computer freezes. You can simulate ctrl alt del, but the ATX connection is designed for desktop towers to take control of the power button.

Also, it doesn't pass through webcams, so if you need to be in a meeting on camera, you'll have to figure out a different way to join.

Have you checked out Apollo/artemis? Fork of moonlight.

It installs as a "video driver and monitor" and outputs directly to your remote stream. Otherwise, using a kvm device you are already add latency because the existing video card is rendering the frame, then to physical HDMI output and then the kvm has to recompress and then transmit.

Thanks for the answer. A KVM is probably not for me then. I want the lowest latency. I'm sure folks like these for whatever reason but I don't think it will matter for me.

Ooh I didn't know this existed. I'm currently using the other comet version to use my old laptop which has a broken key on the keyboard. It's a good machine, but the lack of a working keyboard makes it no longer usable while traveling.

Out of curiosity, is the response faster with tailscale, wire guard VPN (over a brume 2) or with their app? I do see a pretty big performance drop with the app, as it seems to have to go through their gateway.

Moonlight and apparently parsec.

Really remote kvm like these are geared toward remote management, or replacing the need to be physically in front of a computer. It's really hard to see bios errors or ram errors, or even if you have a multi boot setup, but unable to select that option as it occurs before bootup.

Anyone ever try and hook up a multi kvm to a comet?

In theory if the kvm supported keyboard shortcuts, you could get one of these and control like 4 other pcs

I have to do my work on my company laptop but it's super inconvenient and I would much rather work from my pc. Would this work without having to install anything or potentially get detected?
