180 (before fees and taxes) *12 = 2160 for one year
Now, 2160 * 4 = 8640
Over 4 years, without taxes and fees, it is 8640.
Add state and other junk taxes to the total, it is a cool $10k over 3 years you have coughed out as a family ๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†๐Ÿ˜†

It's always the larger picture that users do not take into account or aren't allowed to, when they dangle the shiny phones in front of you.

Even worse than that? When you "upgrade" every year or are given a 'deal' to stay with them after a year. That's how they become $$$$$ dollar companies. You become a perennial cash cow for these providers. They depend on your "it's too much to switch" or "they're good to me".

Your best bet is to stick to anything without contract or long term pricing. Yes, upfront it hurts, but the installment black hole will wring you dry. Doesn't matter who you go with.

Good point. 6480 plus junk and state tax. Yes, little details matter and thanks for catching that.

2160 * 3 = 6480 for 3 years service. But 4 new phones 1200 * 4 = 4800 already + bonus $200 gc

Not sure we'll ever go back to Verizon. 36 months is a full year beyond most other providers' contracts. You pay a premium for a service that is on par with less expensive competitors and if you leave/upgrade early, you get hit with the balance of what you owe on all of your devices.

You get $4800 in value but do not retain it because the next, new version is always around the corner and you upgrade. Hence, the perennial cash cow bit.

Visible Wireless or Warp gets the job done just as well.

Yep...I switched to Visible by Verizon from Tmo last year for $15/m unlimited everything including hot spot guaranteed for 5 years. And I just bought a brand new Iphone 16 Pro from here:

https://slickdeals.net/f/18804451-verizon-apple-iphone-16-pro-5g-smartphone-various-w-500-walmart-egift-card-from-25-mos-for-36-mos-more-free-shipping?src=SDSearchv3&attrsrc=Thread%3AExpired%3AFalse%7CSearch%3AType%3Anormal%7CSearch%3ASort%3Arelevance%7CSearch%3AHideExpired%3Afalse

for around $200 after City CC $300 cash back plus $500 Walmart GC and the phone is mine now without any contract, and I don't need a new model phone every year๐Ÿ˜€

Only if you're a fool...

It's not the early days of smartphones when each new release was a massive upgrade. Hasn't been for years. Keeping a phone for 3-4 years is normal now.

So $6480 / 4 = $1,620.00, subtract the $1200 value of the phone and you just got 3 years service for $420... $140 / year... $11.66 / month for unlimited. Plus fees sure but I don't see the downside here.

Verizon is trash too. I been on spectrum for 10 months and get the same service as all the others for $30 unlimited a month. I'll never go back to Verizon and def wont go to AT&T.
