Brah it's a farking Apple Watch. Are you using yours to go and tell you how to cure cancer? These all do the same things. They also all last only about 3 years. My rule is buy the cheapest one that does the job.

These things do go obsolete eventually. The extra years of use of the se3 over the se2 (3?), plus the extra features (esp AOD) tilt the scales. Cheapest isn't always best. If you're buying two, for kids, I agree that probably this is a better deal in your case.

Apple Watch SE 2 is still a solid entry point for Apple Watch features, especially if you want Siri, shortcuts, apps, and easy family setup for kids. The $129 price is framed as decent for a watch that can still deliver a few years of use, and the cellular version has been useful for moving a child from a watch to an iPhone later. The main drawbacks are its age, slower charging, and the fact that this deal is GPS only, not cellular. It feels best for budget minded Apple users who do not need the newest model or always on display.

Common Questions (4)

$129 is a decent price for the SE2, but it is already aging and the SE3 can be found for about $200. The SE3 adds more years of support and features like always-on display, so the SE2 makes more sense when the lower price matters most.

No, the GPS-only version cannot be used on a cellular plan; you need the cellular model for that. It can still work well for kids or family use over Bluetooth/Wi‑Fi, but it will not have its own cellular line.

The 40mm cellular version sold out quickly and was reported out of stock before Thanksgiving, though some buyers still managed to snag one and have it ship the next day. If you need cellular, availability may be limited and the 44mm version may be the fallback.

Yes, the SE2 is reported to charge slower than other Apple Watch models. That matters most if you want a watch that can top up quickly between uses.

That is something I've been trying to weigh. How much is 2 or 3 more years worth of updates worth? Do I want to purchase an older watch that won't get security updates and pair it with my phone that has access to so much?

I mean, technically if your phone is still getting updates, you should be fine. It seems to use Bluetooth (which is secure these days) while on your wrist, so you could turn wi-fi off.

3 years of use for $129 isn't bad at all. By then there will be an SE4.

YMMV - GameStop is offering $225 cash for these ($247.50 if you're a Pro member).

Not YMMV, it's on the GameStop website. Good find. Hopefully they'd still be offering that when you got it though.

Managed to snag one 40mm cellular version yesterday. It went OOS right after I bought it. Shipped today. I need another one so might go with the 44mm version that is still available
