For comparison, Sams Club had 410 SqFtfor $14.48, which is 1/10 penny cheaper/SqFt. (My S&S showed $3.26 with the 30% off before tax for the 2 rolls)

Sams is a 15" wide roll vs Amazon 12" wide roll.

Independent testing has found low but non‑zero fluorine in at least one Reynolds parchment product (indicating possible trace PFAS contamination, though not clearly intentional).

The non‑stick is supposedly silicone‑based, and a Reynolds brand expert has publicly stated in a retailer Q&A that this unbleached parchment is PFAS‑free, PFOA‑free, and BPA‑free—but Reynolds does not state "PFAS‑free" on the official product page, and only third‑party lab testing on this exact SKU could fully confirm the absence of PFAS above trace levels. -- Perplexity AI

Yet, only one out of 1,299 reviews for this product mentions PFAS, Teflon, or anything similar. People are just sleepwalking thru life using products like this.

There is a checkbox and orange coupon flag under the Typical Price section near the center of the page. Are you on PC?

That's interesting! So is this a brand issue or an issue that's related to using parchment paper? Any better alternatives?

Also, would be curious to know if unbleached makes a difference.

Parchment paper is generally made from wood pulp that has been in a Sulfuric acid bath which vulcanizes the sheets of paper to enhance its mechanical properties like density, durability, stability, heat resistance, etc.
Parchment paper is supercalendered into glassine and then silicone coated to create a grease proof or oil proof paper. Some companies use PFAs to make them more non-stick and water resistant. In recent years, a push to limit PFAs has spawned countries like Denmark and some states like California to limit fluorine. Denmark has 20ppm as a threshold while CA has 100ppm on food packaging. To give some insight, Whole Foods bakery parchment paper has 13ppm while McDonalds bag for french fries has around 250ppm and Costco parchment paper has been tested around 12ppm. Parchment paper can also be treated with glycerin in this process to prevent cracking during the drying process and also quilon coating as an alternative to silicone.
Bleached parchment is then treated with chlorine or other chemicals to achieve its white color which also produces dioxins. Both unbleached and bleached types are coated with silicone. Bleaching is just for aesthetics.

Yes, everything is poisonous, choose your poison.

Quote :
On December 6, 2022, The European Consumer Organization (BEUC), an umbrella organization of European civil society groups, published findings by ten BEUC members demonstrating that known harmful chemicals migrate from silicone baking molds sold in Europe. Each silicone product underwent three migration tests, following procedures used for plastic food contact materials (FCMs). Migrants measured include three siloxanes that are classified as substances of very high concern (SVHCs). In total, 23% of the 44 sampled products were found to release chemical(s) in high concentrations (>30 mg/kg) or increasing amounts over time. The latter suggests that the products are not suitable for repeated use. In addition, 82% of the samples were found to contain substances of concern "such as suspected endocrine disruptors, or substances classified as carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic," albeit at low levels.
So basically, buying silicone based products like cookware is unregulated and can be dangerous to your health because they are known to release "substances of high concern" from the products to the food. The paper does not suggest all silicon based cookware is unsafe but rather be mindful of where you buy your products from and how you use it as its the unregulated wild west.
