Legit question, for a middle aged adult is Rosetta stone better than duolingo or other similar apps?

I can't speak to Rosetta Stone, but for a middle aged adult, Duolingo leaves a lot to be desired as far as actually learning to speak a language. You don't really get much explanation behind "why" a sentence is structured how it is. It makes it hard to apply your knowledge in a broader way. I've practiced a little bit of German almost every day for over a year. Although I've learned a lot of new words, I don't know how much practical knowledge I've gained. I certainly wouldn't be able to speak the language if I visited Germany. I would also love to know if Rosetta Stone better explains the "why"

Yes.
Completely different. This is designed for actively teaching the language, rather than 5 minutes here and there.

With all this new AI integrated tech, phone, glasses, earbuds, etc.. how long do you think Rosetta Stone will still be in business to use this "Lifetime" subscription?

Unfortunately I don't recommend this software for tonal languages. It's much better to use an app and connect via video for P2P chats. If you're just beginning, try to put in the effort by watching YT vids and record yourself to compare.

That's not why people learn a foreign language. They still teach math in school.

Oh it shows a different page now. Maybe they were updating the link? I did click on it though unless you think I made up the price and message I saw

I cant say that Rosetta gives much of a why either. They do s number of different learning tools, visual, audio, matching, conversational situations but it would behoove one to go outside the program and make sure the word or phrase is correct.
