Note that this won't run if you are using Windows 10.
You can file online with Intuit but it's much more expensive.

Holding out for the amazon deal. They usually have it right after Christmas. However, for 2025 the deal wasn't live until January 18.

If you don't need state, there's always taxhawk.com [taxhawk.com] or olt.com [olt.com] - otherwise, there's cash.app/taxes [cash.app]

Free returns, regardless of your tax situation. Enjoy!

Just to remind people, as of last year, you MUST register to activate it, regardless of CD or download version. What this means is that turbotax keeps track of how many computers you load it on and you can only download one state version on any computer. It used to be you could download one state on a computer and a different state on a different computer. Now you cant.

I was able to upgrade my computer to Windows 11. I'm already logged in with TurboTax. I'm just waiting for a good deal. I don't plan on switching away.

So I bought this and just installed it today and there's an offer that pops up - seems to be a free upgrade from Deluxe download to Premium online. I'm not sure if this would let me do either or if it would somehow deactivate my desktop version... seems unlikely. Still, I'm not thrilled with storing my data online. But if anyone actually needs the premium features this seems to be a good deal.
Update! When I declined up pops this second dialog saying it's a one-time offer and I can go back to desktop later. I found this reddit thread about the comparison and decided to stick with desktop because I often live in Forms mode and sounds like online can't do it. https://www.reddit.com/r/TurboTax...this_year/

Don't do it! Desktop deluxe will do everything online premium will and more. Intuit is desperate to move people from the more powerful and cost-effective desktop version to the less capable online version.

Where they can sell you more crap and hold you hostage easier. Thanks to Intuit, other for-profit companies, and the Republicans, they also killed the free IRS Direct File program that was rolling out. The for-profit companies don't like it when people can file for free directly with the IRS.

Unless I'm missing something, this is $56 Federal + State download and $10 Costco credit (only good for Turbo Tax products/services?) for $56. Not as good as Jan 2025 sale at Amazon which includes $10 Amazon gift card for $46.

It was $46+tax - $10 intuit credit. It went up $10 since this promotion ended.

Thanks. I didn't realize the promotion ended. $10 intuit credit would've been useless for me anyway. I'll wait for TT sale + $10 costco or amazon credit.

IRS Direct File was a pilot program and cancelled but I read it was replaced by other IRS Free File options beginning in January 2026. Research them if you qualify.

I'm waiting on the Amazon TurboTax deal!

Yeah, the other "free file" options just direct people to for-profit companies like Intuit where you only qualify for free filing under limited circumstances and they always try to upsell you.

I missed the Black Friday sale. How do we know this is the best deal until April? I read one person on this board implying that AMZN will come out with a deal inlcluding free gift card in Jan? Has this been offered already ie during Black Friday? Thanks in advance!

I am surprised that there is no after-Christmas deal. The $56 DL+State is still up with the $10 credit at Costco but I am hoping for another $10 off. Reminder for next year to get it at BF.

I am an old timer and I still use my Win10 computer. I have been using ttax for over 2 decades. So, I am not sure how easy it is to move to another software.... Besides, my salary, I have a rental property..... Any advise for me? Other than buying a new computer, which I don't want to now.... Thank you
