Note that this won't run if you are using Windows 10.
You can file online with Intuit but it's much more expensive.

Holding out for the amazon deal. They usually have it right after Christmas. However, for 2025 the deal wasn't live until January 18.

I am an old timer and I still use my Win10 computer. I have been using ttax for over 2 decades. So, I am not sure how easy it is to move to another software.... Besides, my salary, I have a rental property..... Any advise for me? Other than buying a new computer, which I don't want to now.... Thank you
If you don't need state, there's always taxhawk.com or olt.com - otherwise, there's cash.app/taxes

Free returns, regardless of your tax situation. Enjoy!

IRS Direct File was a pilot program and cancelled but I read it was replaced by other IRS Free File options beginning in January 2026. Research them if you qualify.

I'm waiting on the Amazon TurboTax deal!
IRS Free File predated Direct File, but Direct File had several advantages and would have continued to improve.

I ended up getting the Costco deal, since I have 2 state filings so I can use the $10. Wanted to get it this year so I can tax deduct it for my business.

Will keep an eye open for January deals to see if come 2026 Black Friday is the best time to purchase.

It seems I missed the yearly Amazon deal which was normally $45 for Deluxe State and Federal.

The best price looks to $55 on Amazon and Costco. Anyone know of a better deal?

Thank you for your help. Is it easy transfer from previous year's tax returns using the H&R block software? Which version should I get. I have a rental property... Thanks again

You're welcome.

Outside of Cash App Taxes - which is compete free under all circumstances, including state - you may be able to qualify for free state on top of federal with OLT, provided you meet their requirements: https://www.olt.com/main/OLTFREE/default.php

I haven't used H&R yet, just switching this year from Turbo because their non-support of Win 10 annoys me.

H&R claims that they do easy import from Turbo (direct or from a PDF), and their product page shows a check mark next to "Rentals" for their "Premium" edition, which apparently always includes the state forms also: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-software/

"Premium" at NewEgg for $37.49 with promo code "ACSE459": https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E1683...6832732212

The January edition of Costco Connections magazine is posted online. It states that Turbotax will be on sale Jan 19 - Feb 8.

Can anyone confirm, if you have a small business / self employed, do you have to purchase the most expensive Turbo Tax (highest tier) to get the benefits? Or can you order this version?

I ask because nn H&R Block, even though there exists higher tiers, you can order the H&R Block Deluxe version and it supports self employment. You don't have to purchase the higher tier. (neat trick for those who don't know btw)

Is the same true for TurboTax? Anyone know?
