Adorama was on the front page priced at $175. This deal was good enough that I'll accept the task of explaining it to my wife.

budget carriers, double-check their stricter size policies, but for major airlines, you're safe

dimensions looks to be a bit big for the major airlines
Regarding the size, I've been flying with a bag that's almost identical in size (only 1/4" less deep) for probably 100 domestic flights on all the major and most of the minor carriers over 20 years and have never had the slightest issue. Always fits in the overhead (tips on its side on larger planes.)

Just in time! The telescopic handle on my carry-on keeps getting stuck. Such a waste to replace as the rest is fine.
is your telescopic handle dented in some way? If not, try a Teflon spray from HD to help get it to stop sticking. If dented, you can probably spend some time and find a way to pull the dent out a little.

No dent at all. I think over time the spring mechanism just need replacing.

I think this is a great deal for this item and don't mean to detract from it, but if you are not much of a flyer I suggest you consider a 4 wheel bag that meets all carrier size limits.

Two wheel bags like this are a lot more durable for checking, but it's not as big of a factor for a carry-on bag. 4 wheel spinner types are a lot easier to roll long distances through the airports, though you do lose a bit of usable space.

If you really want to carry-on and not check baggage, a 4 wheel spinner bag and a backpack with a pass-through for the handle is the setup.

If I were starting over I'd buy:

1.) A good 4 wheel spinner that fits all carry-on sizes. Small connecting planes will eventually get you if you push it.

2.) A carry-on size backpack with a pass-through for the bag handle. ~26 - 32 liters would be the rough size.

3.) A much larger bag (like a ~26" or so) for when you need more space and will plan to check it. Easily big enough you can store the smaller spinner in it when stored away.

1 + 2 can get me through a ~10 day trip with a laptop and smart clothing choices, and it's what I use for most trips.

I welcome the slightly larger volume. Taking into account that it COULD be flagged, I would pack with less sensitive equipment, so I won't mind if it is gate checked.

One carry-on packing tip is to keep your laptop(s) and uncheckable gear (batteries) in a separate pouch, so you can remove it without fuss if they force you to gate check.

i fly all the time about once a month w/ a 22in bag... usually fly American/southwest/united...never had an issue.

I think they get more picky with bag sizes for later groups...for American, group 9

wish this thing had 4 wheels...we bought tumi's a long time ago and they have 2 wheels. i hate hearing my wife say, we should get one with 4 wheels. makes no diff to me. i can just hear her voice..."you should've bought one w/ 4 wheels." Oh well, will just spend this money towards a gun and hear the complaining.
