This register booster fan is aimed at rooms that sit far from the furnace or AC and need help pulling more conditioned air through an existing vent. It is described as useful for long or undersized duct runs, end rooms, basements, attic spaces, and bedrooms over garages, with built in temperature sensing that can keep it running after the HVAC cycles off. The main caveats are noise on higher settings, visible power cords, and the fact that it cannot fix bad ductwork or create airflow that is not already there. A practical niche fix when the room is the weak link.

These can be great for the right situation. My current house has floor vents and they worked great until Rosie the Roomba started molesting them.

it needs to be plugged in, which most of the pictures conveniently do not show on their product page. IMO this tech isnt quite there yet. we need wireless ones and the prices need to come down considerably before it's worth the investment. if you are rich, flair is the company you'd want to go with... but you are looking at thousands of dollars to get setup ($100+ per air vent, every room needs a $100+ temp sensor, and a bridge).

I bought a similar product and it would make weird loud noises. Had to return it.

Do any of these have a air flow sensor in addition to the temp sensor so they can really tell when the heat or the ac is on and boost airflow either in a room that heats and cools poorly?

ghetto setup and not feasible for ceiling vents, which is 99% of homes
Yeah it's a ghetto item. But being an appraiser for 20+ years… ceiling vents are def not 99% or even 50%. 🤣

Seems like a good deal. I need the 6x12 and that's only 5% off so I'll wait.

I literally put a small fan on top of my vent with the AC on and it cooled my room in like 10 minutes. If aesthetics mean a lot to you, go with this item, but you likely will get similar results with the fan.

This is inside the vent so its pulling air into the room, def not the same thing as putting a fan on top of the vent and just moving the air now in the room.

In cold climates almost all vents are in the floor or low on the wall.
Northern states have vents on floor, but hot n humid states in South all have ceilings vents

I have a different brand and it makes a huge difference in my room. I immediately notice if one of the kids unplugged it because the room will be either colder or hotter without it on. I just ordered 2 of these so I'm hoping it's the same as AC infinity. I read it has less features but in all my years of owning it, I have only ever had it on fan and never messed with any settings. This seems like a great price but hopefully it works as well as my other one.

It's just a fan that sits in the register? So it increases air flow into that room, but steals it from everywhere else? Because it doesn't create more flow from the HVAC blower...
It reduces the static pressure in the duct, allowing higher flow rate of air overall and also yes to an extent rebalancing the system. The higher the static pressure the less the blower from your HVAC is able to even move making it just burn energy. Gasses didn't move in fixed volumes through fans.

Theres no need. When set correctly they work in conjunction with your HVAC. For example if you are using AC you can set the register to keep working until desired temperature is sensed say 68F, it will turn off once the temperature rises above that in the air duct. Same for heat, if the air duct no longer has hot air at 80F (you control the temp) it will turn off. Or plug this into a smart plug.
A good so just get the remote out for the timer if day and seasonal adjustments. Definitely send easier to play with it 3x a day forever instead of spend 15 minutes setting up syncing to my other controls.

In the US, ceiling vents are almost exclusively in basements which typically aren't the frequent living spaces where people would be planning to use these.
