I think it may be too top heavy for a 12 year old.

Interesting, so he notes that it feels like it's a pretty low center of gravity (though he remarked in the comments that once you hit 100 lbs of kids on the back it gets unstable), and he overall likes it. He pointed out that one must unbolt the rear brake to remove the rear wheel, but that's only two bolts. Steering is also reportedly stable. It might be worth reading through the 3-star reviews on the site to see if there are any dealbreakers in there -- e.g. one person felt that the pedal assistance kicks in too abruptly during turns unless you adjust it down to 1 or 0.

Edited to add:
That said, this guy seemed to find the pedal assist fairly mild. Another review:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-9SgM7YAP8

Edited to add #2:
Ah, orthicon9 remarks on another video, "When making sharp U-turns, especially at slow speeds or from a stop, do NOT use pedal-assist. Either set pedal-assist to zero, or don't pedal at all and use only the throttle. The problem is that pedal-assist power (on e-bikes with a cadence sensor, anyway) typically does not kick in until a short time after you start pedalling, maybe half a turn or so. The sudden lurch (even if set to low gear or a minimum level of pedal-assist) can throw off your balance, causing the bike to (mostly) skid out at the rear." That explains it.

I plan to get Lectric Xpedition 2 to give my kids a ride to and from school. This bike is half the price of Lectric, but it seems very unsafe to give 2 little toddlers a ride on the back and has no accessories for it compared to Lectric.

if the AliEx train of ebikes didn't crater prices last couple months then this would be a much much better deal. seeing that you can get >3 workable AliEx bikes for the price of one of these it kinda spoils it even if this one looks nicer.

Been wanting to get one of those cargo bike deals but every time I try to order one, they all say they can't ship it to me - I assume because of the battery and the fact that I'm in Hawaii. Are there workarounds for this?

I am kind of with you.Everybody in the ali bike deals says get a more expensive bike from a US dealer for warranty. Yet the Heybike warranty really doesn't cover much and I could buy two or three China bikes for the same price.

Look below at what they do not cover. It is just about anything and some major components like the motor, controller, shifter, throttle and motor are only covered 7 says after receiving the bike.

Not saying that ruins this deal and I imagine the bike will be fine and probably more polished than the direct from China but the cost difference definitely needs consideration when neither is real giving any guaranteed support for any long or short period of time.
