It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Does anyone know when this offer will end? I tried cancelling the account I had and signing up using another email and it didn't let me .. rep on the phone said he can get the account setup over the phone but I will lose out on rak10 cb which is at $50 currently, guess will have to wait for a few days and see if it works!

Just make sure that welcome codes either MC10 and GIFT100 is applied through rak10 otherwise it may be ineligible for CB.

Depends on your address -- my apt is prewired for Xfinity and had free shipping or store pickup

Modem shipped out today from in state -- should be delivered tomorrow by FedEx

FYI, I am not a current Xfinity customer (had them 1.5+ year earlier), but had my previous Xfinity ID still active (I was kind of surprised with that). Created a new order yesterday (on 10th) without logging in, it gave a message that something didn't go well at the very end. Called them and they did something to have the order go through, plus now I can see the order when I login using the older Xfinity ID.

Picked up the gateway (XB8) from local store in the evening, plugged that in today using the old cox cable that was still left from prior installation. After about 10 min., gateway showed solid white light, meaning I had the internet working. On my phone, using speedtest I am getting 900mbps up and 110mbps down speed.

Then I started the free phone line activation online within my account. This again gave some error at the end, called them and they got the line activated for me. I transferred the number from Mint and it's now all working.

Happy to get this deal in the end ;-)

When I log into the xfinity, it shows 2 accounts, the old one and the new account, which even has (NEW) next to it to differentiate it was newly created. Then a few hours later, got a call from xfinity rep saying you have ordered a new service, would you like to cancel the old service. I said absolutely and they did all the cancellation on the phone for me. Then I got an email about dropping off the old equipment, which I will do once receiving the new (free) modem in the mail. In the end, I'm saving $70 a month for doing this deal.


For once, my jaw is dropping at the level of service and ease xfinity has made getting into this deal, even for existing customers. No need to jump through hoops or create new account with pseudonyms or fake email address. Kudos to Xfinity.

No. You have 1 year free mobile line.The 90 days from ordering your service to avail of the 1 year free mobile. So you have 90 days to think about adding a free mobile line.

Dec 16th is probably the last day you can sign up for new internet service and get the free mobile line promo included with your new account -- you should still have 90 days to activate it

They could stop the free line promo for new customers signing up for internet on/after Dec 17th or they could change the promo (right now its free for 300mb plan or higher)

Get all the way to the end setting up the new account (already have Xfinity 1 gig) and get this error message....
