It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Bill Date and Service Dates are different. Need look at top of bill to see last Service Dates are paid till on previous month bill.
The new bill was sent to me on 12/9/2025 and due date on 12/31/2025 for the old account for services from 12/14/2025 - 1/13/2026.

Xfinity is the only company that bills you for services for the next month. My utilities and water bills are billed to me AFTER usage.

So now I have 2 xfinity accounts with 2 bills ($65.00) and ($50.00) and I already had submitted a request to have the old account cancelled.

Did you return the equipment linked to old account? Chatted with rep to cancel, they had me call Xfinity number. Xfinity phone rep marked account as cancelled, but asked to return equipment to store within 14 days. On return of equipment to store, account was finally updated to Disconnected and my pending payment got prorated the next day. Had also received bill full amount for old account earlier.

I submitted a request to disconnect the old account #. Today, I just received a bill for internet charges for next month. How do you guys 100% cancel the old account and not be double billed for two account #'s?
Return any equipment linked with old account to store. My account was updated to Disconnected after this. If have no equipment, call Xfinity number and speak with rep to cancel.

Yeah they could make it simple and charge for same due date when activated service but they want to confuse people.

December 13th would of been your last paid service day to cancel from previous month paid.

for plan change they won't enforce early termination fee
It's not a plan change. It's canceling 1 account and opening a new one.

This finally worked for me on the third try. The first two times I selected use my own equipment, and I got the dreaded could not complete order message. I selected to use Comcast equipment the third time and it worked.

Now to visit the Xfinity store tomorrow to return my cablecard and cancel my existing account.

I went to the Xfinity store right when they opened this morning to cancel my previous account and return my useless cablecard. I got helped pretty quickly. It took about fifteen minutes to get my old account cancelled, and to make sure my owned modem got moved to the new account. The rep said my first two orders failed because my owned equipment was already on my other account. (Strange, because they don't know what owned equipment you might be using.)

The rep did something right because my Internet was still working when I got home, and my old account seems to be cancelled. I figured I would have to activate my modem again. No idea if I will get a refund for the remaining time on my previous account. Thanks to whoever posted this, and for showing how it could save money for an existing customer! I don't have any other wired Internet option except Comcast for high speed. No fiber, and Centurylink just offers crappy DSL.

I should have just created a new account under my wife's name instead of using my existing one cause this got all screwed up. I asked Comcast to remove the old account and they removed the new one. Reverted me back to my old plan even though my modem hasn't been re-provisioned yet.

At least my mobile lines are accessible again. Going to just sign up a new account under the wife's name, activate it so the old account gets disconnected, port my two mobile lines out to Mint, and call it a day. not really worried about the free year of mobile service. I just want to lock the $50 month in.

Depending on where you are, yes. My area doesn't have mid-split work done yet which supposedly allows for faster upload speeds. Once it does get done I have no idea if they will upgrade us. I would hope they do.

Okay. In that case, call the Xfinity number and speak to rep for cancellation. They just marked my old account for cancellation but asked to call to confirm cancellation.

I have been on Xfinity for years using their gateway (XB7)and gig internet. At some point I switched to XFi Complete (unlimited data, and gateway rental for $25) since they started jerking around monthly usage and I was hitting the data limit, so I went unlimited. I surprisingly then had 300 mbps upload, which consistently tested at 350 for about a year. A few months ago I switched to the 5 year lock gig plan $65/mo, since my promo would be expiring. My Xfinity XB7 gateway remained the same unit throughout. There is no XFI complete option now since the new plan includes unlimited data and their gateway. My upload speeds are now 100 Mbps, testing at 110-125. Given the details on page 17 of this thread by Pechango, it sounds like my Service Code was changed with the new 5 year lock plan and losing XFi Complete, even though I know from prior that my location and Xfinity XB7 are capable of 350 upload.

No, Xfinity's new plans starting this past summer include unlimited data.
The difference is the upload speed limit. I am having 324 Mbps upload speed. The current plan offers 117 Mbps upload speed.
