It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Only downside I'm seeing so far is that at least for me, the upload speeds is less at checkout than on the initial offer page. 35 vs 117.
AND the modem pictured in the confirmation is a black one that looks older and might not actually be capable of the 117 like the current gateway I'm using now, which is the white once currently supplying uploads over 117.
Any one's confirmation show the same older gateway?
At the start when it doesn't have your exact address, it will be optimistic and show you the speeds that would be available if the mid-split network upgrade was done in your neighborhood. After you put the address in, since your neighborhood does not have the network upgrade, the site knows that now and it shows you the DOCSIS 3.1 upload normal speed. It had nothing to do with what modem they give you.

Why are so many not waning the free mobile line for a year?

My Mint unlimited deal is up at the end of the month - thinking this would be the way to go for a year.

Use code MC50 in cart to receive a $50 prepaid virtual card
At what stage can you add the promo code? I am not seeing it on any of the pages as I step through the sign up process

Open the cart on the right-hand pane of the screen before checkout, it's down below in the "Promo Code" field

Confirmed via chat, you do NOT need to activate the mobile line to get the offer.

I asked, "so it won't cost more if I don't activate the account"

They responded, "exactly - we just have to not activate it in the 90 days and it falls"
Do not take their words for it. I signed up for mobile in exchange for lower price and higher speed and was told no cost for mobile. Low and behold, received a bill for $40 plus a month. I canceled immediately.

You can select "0 mobile lines" during the order process. I have no mobile associated with my order.

It's expensive when the discount is over, and if don't actually need unlimited then it's not that great because the taxes and fees are extra.

Where I am is like $8 a month in taxes and fees. I have a low use line that I was considering using it with but it comes out more expensive than my current low use plan because of the taxes and fees. Just recently you could get $60 yearly plans with 5gb of data a month. This plan is almost $100 for the year.
It's not a good enough offer to pull someone off the big carriers if they are getting subsidized phones and it's not great if you don't need unlimited. It's good for some people but its just ok for most when you factor in the gotchas.

You could be a new customer. Just sign up a new account with your wife or your dogs name and cancel your current account. You just need to tell them you move out and let your wife to use all your current equipment. I do this almost every year to stay as a new customer. 🤣
That could explain your wife's reputation :o 🤣

FYI, $10 out of the $50 is dependent on setting up autopay with bank account (not credit card). So, it would be $60 otherwise. Also, upload speeds are around 100 Mbps over coax for this plan, and latency is around 14 milliseconds.
You can pay early with credit card and still get the discount. T-Mobile caught onto this so Xfinity might do that soon too

Good luck cancelling that mobile, plan it is next to impossible to cancel.
