It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

Wow. Great deal. What area are you in?
The address (not mine) was something from an area I heard got fiber installed within the last few months: https://www.chanhassenmn.gov/gove...c-buildout

Just an update, I tried their live chat option while the $50 plan is in my cart, and somehow the rep was able to add it with my existing Xfinity profile. Thanks op!
Were you already using Xfinity's equipment? If so, were you able to keep using their same equipment or did you have to return it and pick up 'new' equipment?

I was on the 1.2 Gig plan it seems as that moved sometime over a year, since I originally signed up for the 1 Gig plan. It did end up creating a new account under my profile, so I had 2 accounts. I used chat to cancel my old account and the representative did it without any issues.

I guess I should have tried to initially try a price match on the current account, but having dealt with Comcast for years it is just easy to cancel a account.

I was able to keep my Diamond status, so Peacock Premium will not turn off after 2 years and got the $50 gift card.
Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if you were previously using any Xfinity equipment on your 1.2 Gig plan? And if so, do you have to return that equipment and pick up new equipment?

We already have an Xfinity XB8 which is working great but I really don't want to have to return that XB8 and pick up a new XB8 if I have to create a new account. Hopefully somehow I can keep our current XB8 via chat as it seems several folks here have had good success with the chat function.

I'll have to give the live chat a try. So may I ask what level and cost of service you had before? We signed up for the 5 year price lock (1) gig deal almost two months ago but at $65 and would love to get them to price match it to the $50 deal being offered now. We are using their XB8 modem and really would like to not have to hassle with cancelling our existing account and returning our current modem.
Was at 1gig for $65 a month, the black Friday deal. New account from like a week ago. They matched no problem.

All you need to do is go to activate it with new login in Xfinity app.
the login you created while ordering the new service? when i tried to use the email associated with the account, it shows an error message even though the order confirmation email was sent to it. I also tried using the phone number to register a new account and it can't find the new account. so far i have received two emails from them to this emai account 'Thanks for choosing Xfinity' and 'Your Xfinity order confirmation'. did you disconnect the previous account before activating it with the new one?

Wow that sounds like exactly what I would like to accomplish. I think we are almost two months into the (5) year $65 promo so hopefully that's still new enough to get them to match. I really don't want to cancel and resign up and swap out XB8 modems, etc.

Just wanted to say a couple things as a long time Comcast/Xfinity subscriber

1. For anyone on the fence, this is a great deal if you don't mind putting up with Comcast. I'd highly doubt it will ever go any lower.
2. They don't have data caps on these plans anymore. It's unlimited.
3. If you can, use your own equipment (modem and router).
4. Get this 1Gbps plan and do not get the 2Gbps plan because 99% of people will not need that plan or be able to take advantage of it. And you might think, but we have gamers in the house and people streaming movies at the same time and so on...it doesn't matter. This plan is more than enough for that. If you get the other plan you're just going to throw away an extra $20/month.
5. You don't have to get their mobile line at all and I'd again suggest that you don't. Don't give them any power to overcharge/erroneously charge on things because it's what they do....all the time.

Excited, anyone have any idea what's is the catch? Taxes and fees? How much it would be? I know there is no sales tax but can someone confirm any other fees?
The only real catch is that you have to do auto pay and paperless billing, otherwise this deal is $60 per month (which still isn't bad imo).

how does the transfer work if you're an existing customer? i got the order confirmation email from them but i did not request any device (no modem, Wi-Fi). are they going to ship me something (a cable?). how do i transfer the service to this new account and cancel the old one?
make sure you don't miss the call from xfinity, they will call to confirm to cancel your existing/old account. Login to your existing account and click on billing on the right side and you should two account, note down old and new account#. Once you get a cancel confirmation email, hope on to chat and asked them to remove your modem mac from the old account and add to your new account. Suggest to reset your modem so you get the new 1gb config file and back online.

My biggest concern is the node your coax is connected to on the way to your premise (As well as how many of your neighbors are sharing that node with you. The old number could be as high as 8). While FIOS is fiber from premise to NOC, you run into the old difficulty of sharing that run from node to NOC with other customers. If too many P2P transfers are concurrently running on your node or large fie uploads, you run the risk of having the upstream side being over-saturated. That means for every packet of data you receive, you as the receiver must return an ACK or acknowledgement that the packet has been correctly received. Until the sender knows whether or not to resend the packet or send a new packet all downstream data flow is interrupted. This makes however "fast" your lines down capacity may be, it becomes irrelevant if the ACK is delayed. This was the reason Comcast started using the program "grapevine" to throttle P2P connections and got them into serious trouble. -Such is the inherent weakness of cable vs. fiber to the premise Internet service. Just keep that in mind. Asymmetric line speeds can be a huge problem for those who work at home and have a need to upload lager data files as well.

Which # from xfinity will call? Is that the typical 1-800-xfinity or something else?

Yeah, can someone confirm? I cannot log in at the checkout page where you enter your info. Of course their online chat representative tells me it's for new accounts only and dealing with them over the years, I'm not wasting my time and nerves trying to call them.

Is a new email enough to create a new "account" while keeping all your other info (ie name/email/et al) the same?

No. I didn't disconnect the previous account. Maybe try to reset the password for your new Xfinity account.

i don't see the second account number in billing but i have a record of that. i told them to cancel my old account and it looks like they are still processing it (still connected to internet).
