It's worth noting this isn't the same as typical fiber internet - it's "fiber-powered". Namely, from their own details,
Xfinity Internet is powered by fiber and connected to premises by coaxial cable
One drawback to this is upload and download speeds are not symmetric - the headline advertised speed is the download speed, but upload speeds are typically significantly lower. For example, looking at the Broadband Facts of the 1 Gig plan in my area, they specify typical download speed at 1170 mbps and typical upload speed at 117 mbps. In the past in different areas, I've seen advertised typical upload speeds as low as 20-40 mbps.

That may be perfectly fine for many people, in which case this is a good deal. But make sure to take a look at the upload speed for your area and confirm that it's fast enough for your needs.

Yes don't log in initially, then look up your address, then choose I'm moving here as a new subscriber. Then contie towards the end and on the screen where it has you sign up for an account, choose login instead. But make sure you cancel your old account, and return equipment. Otherwise you'll be billed for two accounts concurrent.

I'm a current customer and my plan has that bank autopay discount too. But I can still manually pay with a credit card every month, with no surcharge, and the discount remains.

I was able to get this deal with an existing account and keep my 1 year of free cell service for signing up recently. It offered me the deal in the app, but I chatted with support to confirm and did the final changes through the agent. I was on $50 for 1 year and 500mbps, so this was a no brainer. Freaking Xfinity trying to make me like them. (They're my only option for service)

I find the autopay requirement highly annoying, like going back in time 15 years. With everything set up as E-bills at my bank it's better organized and clear when everything is getting paid. Instead, I have to remember when the Xfinity and T-mobile autopays happen. Less control and clarity for the customer but fewer headaches for them from the people who 'forget' to pay.
It's to skirt credit card fees on their side. I'm going to auto pay anyways so it doesn't bother me so much.

I am so glad I got away from these vampires last year. Now I pay $49.99 for 10gig up/down no data caps. To be fair the best I've seen in a speed test is 7.9gb up and 8.6gb down but still. I also needed all new equipment lol
You don't gotta rub it in so much. Those numbers are crazy, are you on Googles campus or near some govt black site or something?

For those that has existing Xfinity internet plan and want to still use your existing email/USERID to get the new customer 1Gig Internet (5-year price lock) deal, the trick is DO NOT login to your account USER ID and password when you click on the link in the post.

Just tried sign up the New customers 1Gig Internet plan on the website linked and able to get this plan for existing user AS LONG AS you don't login to your existing account INCLUDE DO NOT click on any login link (with email/password) during checkout.

One easy way is use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan.

- After you type in your address and see this new internet plan (1 Gig internet for $50), continue checkout following new account steps. (Again, DO NOT LOG IN)
- And when need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc during checkout AND DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all.
- Eventually, because you type in the same email and phone number, etc, as existing account, it will ask to verify your account by either verify using the Xfinity App or send text message to your phone number, etc.
- And once you verify your info using something like text message, the checkout process will have access to your payment information in your existing account and let you continue and complete the check out (using the same payment info like Checking account/credit card saved in your existing email/user account).

If you click on the confirmation email to check your account, you will see TWO Xfinity internet accounts associate with the same email login account.

After logout of the account on the website and the App, then try log back in again, when try to manage your internet plan, you can see a new option which you can select either your old internet plan or new internet plan. Select the newer Xfinity internet account to activate it and verify the internet account detail.

If you checkout and has your own modem that is compatible with this plan (could be the same modem you are currently using with the old plan), you can activate the new plan right away and can get the faster speed right away since you don't need to wait for the modem from them
Do we get pro rated the differences when we close out our old account and open a new one?

Did you log in under your old or new credentials? I tried all of the steps but now logging back in, it just sits there and spins and says "just a moment, taking longer than expected" instead of showing the $50 option.
I don't want to sign up with the new credentials because I worry they would charge me for both old and new.

I use my old credentials. It's shoiwng $60 a month but I assume with autopay checking discount subtract to $10 off. I don't know what to do now because I have 2 accounts under my xfinity loginLol

If it show $60 a month, you are not doing it correctly since the price show should be the price you pay AFTER all the discount applied. You may want to chat with the rep to cancel the $60 a month plan unless you want to keep it and don't want to $50 1Gig (5-year price lock) plan.

Have you checkout using the steps mentioned which logout of your account or use Incognito/private windows of browser to signup for the plan.
And during the WHOLE checkout process NEVER login using your userid/password. When need to type in your info, just type the same info as your existing account like email, name, phone number, etc AND AGAIN during checkout DO NOT login to your account using login link with email/password at all.

Since once you do the "normal" login using email/password that associate with existing internet account, you won't be able to get the new customer price anymore and that plan won't show up once you login using email/password.

After I got verified when they sent me the code via text, they recognized me and when I click Next, it was asking for my date of birth and that is when I was getting error that they are unable to verify me. I dont know what I am doing wrong and why the hell they are asking for my DOB.

Just want to provide an update that I just activated the new account with the $50/month 1Gig plan for 5 years. But when I log out and relog in, it still shows my old account number. Am I supposed to cancel it or does it get cancelled automatically?

So you don't have DOB info in your existing Comcast Xfinity email account? I guess may be verify your existing email account info to see if DOB info is setup and available in your existing account correctly? And chat with Rep online if needed? I assume most people that get this to work able to get pass the DOB verification without much issue.....

Current customer paying $80/month for this plan. I refuse to use autopay via banking account with Xfinity, as I don't trust them at all. When it works, I get about 750down, 450up in an apartment building. The problem is that it goes out about 30 times a day for a few minutes. I've had 3 technician visits (which they charge me for even though it's their equipment) and have gone through 6 different gateways. It still happens. I wish I had a better alternative than CenturyLink. Cell reception is not great so I'm stuck.

Never again Xfinity. Now with ATT fiber... Never again!
Have had ATT fiber for several years, lots of issues and LOUSY CUSTOMER SERVICE. Currently getting "no internet" notice every couple days with service off for 10-20 minutes and then comes back on. Evidently ATT is not that great for everyone! May have to try Xfinity.
