(I have no idea what these mean, but I'm wondering if this is a good product)

The 8 camera PoE setup with Reolink I set up for my uncle's warehouse has been much more reliable than Eufy, which couldn't bear weather after a year.
The 8 camera PoE setup with Reolink I set up for my uncle's warehouse has been much more reliable than Eufy, which couldn't bear weather after a year.
For 3 global industrial factories I provide IT support for, I have installed REOLINK security systems to monitor conveyors and other areas of their facilities where there is not adequate coverage of their primary surveillance system.
The eufy system I have at home was awesome at first! The overall android app experience was positive (which is why I recommended them), accessing the cameras was quick and alerts were immediate. HOWEVER, they had an issue with cameras being unprotected and unauthorized users just being able to randomly log into cameras (random people from the internet). So, eufy FORCED encryption across all their devices. That has DRASTICALLY reduced log in time/load time. Then they started implementing ai features. These 'enhancements' made their app even WORSE! With each update their app progressively gets worse and worse. Don't take my word for it, look at the eufy app on Google Play store, look at the reviews, and look at all the 1 star reviews! I would like to note, about 6 months to 10 months ago, during that time frame, they somehow erased or manipulated THOUSANDS of 1 star ratings so they no longer show up. I think they deleted their app and reuploaded a brand new app with fresh ratings.... but somehow they still retained other identifying info.... it is very shady and they were always shady from the get go.
As for REOLINK, their NVR leaves MUCH to be desired, no keyboard support, lacking of other features, BUT, it does get the job done.
Their app (for a windows install) is trash! It does not even do everything the NVR will do. And only in the last few years has this been a problem (meaning, their old software worked just like the NVR but modern iterations do not)
Example, I just installed an 8 camera NVR kit but it came with a 16-channel NVR (meaning, 8 channels available for expansion). If you're running the NVR on a monitor via HDMI, you can make two blocks of 4 cameras (4 squares per page) and have the NVR cycle through it in 3 sec, 10 sec, and I think there are like 2 more time intervals. There is no issue there. You can have the NVR cycle through all 8 cameras in 3 or 5 second (or longer) intervals, no problem there. HOWEVER, let us just say you have a laptop on that network and you want a certain area to view a few of those cameras. You output that video to a large monitor. So, you install the REOLINK app, configure it, and set everything up. Now you can output the cameras onto that monitor. The problem is that if you're cycling through cameras in any orientation (1 by 1, 2 blocks of 4, etc..) the app on the laptop will cycle through the dead channels as well! So, if you're cycling through all 8 cameras on the laptop, whether you want it to or not, it will ALSO cycle through the 8 channels of no cameras... so you'll have 8 black screens until you recycle to the 1st camera again... there is NO WAY to change that in the app. REOLINK is aware of it and they say they are fixing the issue in a 'future firmware' update but as of last week, that issue still persists. I asked Alex (the REOLINK agent I was chatting with) what firmware in the NVR has to do with the software app installed on a windows based computer but he wasn't sure. There are other issues with the app and manipulation but that issue is the biggest one we have.
Again, their systems from 2019 and prior didn't have that problem and they're still running strong!
BOTH eufy and reolink cameras provide excellent picture quality... unfortunately, you have to use their proprietary app to access that superior picture and therein lies the rub.
EDIT: I know for %100 fact you cannot use eufy cameras without their mobile app (not sure about their recent release of PoE camera system)... but I have never tried REOLINK cameras on a 3rd party app. It just didn't occur to me to do so... especially given the older gens of REOLINK never gave any issue. I may have to look in to that "surveillance station" app. None of the Reolink systems in the factories even record.. they're for monitoring conveyors to look for stuck product which is often time so high up it is hard for line workers to see until there is a huge jam or other issues.
