This is a great deal for an entry into electric guitar. I bought one of these guitars from Monoprice a few years back and was shocked (in a good way) at the quality of the guitar I got. It definitely rivals what you'd get for double the price at a big box music store for an entry electric guitar.
Just know if you decide to get serious about guitar after a while, you may need to either get this guitar professionally setup for better intonation/playablility, learn how to set up the guitar yourself or buy a better guitar for like 3x the price and prestige/guitar-neckbeard-approval factor.
Getting an electric guitar + small practice amp + guitar cable + guitar strap + guitar picks + guitar bag for $100 is an unbeatable deal. (not to mention the tremelo bar and extra strings)

This is a great deal for a beginner and the guitar will be very decent. If you stick with it and eventually want to upgrade, I'd recommended spending money on your amp instead of a new guitar. A lot of budget guitars are great and can sound pretty good on a better model amp.

I think it's easier to learn on acoustic guitar. There are many acoustic/electric guitars out there too but not this cheap imo

What do you want to play? Start there. Either has advantages and disadvantages for learning curve and physical playability, but an electric isn't going to sound like an acoustic or vice versa.

Acoustic strings can be harder to push down so electric is easier on the fingers if you're learning.. I'm usually too lazy to plug in my electrics so i just play then unplugged. I'm also not great.

IMO, it is easier on electric than acoustic and I mean that in a literal sense. A lot of people are turned off on how hard it is to press and hold strings down on an acoustic and wind up quitting.

Bought a monoprice cali classic and have a $450 guitar also. This guitar is going to be lower quality but still very good.

It's a great entry point for someone who wants to learn guitar (and most likely won't stick with it) or for learning how to do guitar repairs and setups on a cheap guitar.

The alternative is to get a $250 guitar, $200 amp, $20 cable, $15 strap, $5 picks, and $30 guitar bag (optional) so $500 bare minimum to get everything you need.

I've had many Indio guitars over the past several years, as I buy them when on sale to give to kids who can't afford an instrument of their own.

I used to get most of the guitars I give away from pawn shops, thrift stores, online marketplaces, and garage sales, but really, that hasn't been worth my time lately because they're either too expensive, or too beat up.

Finding and refurbing a used guitar of questionable origin costs more in time, fuel and parts than just buying more cheap Chinese made guitars new.

Indio guitars make especially great first guitars, because they come set up much better than any of the Walmart online and eBay cheapos I've bought. If it's not coming across my workbench first, I'm still comfortable knowing a new player got one direct from Monoprice.

I have yet to receive one that I'm even slightly disappointed in. They really are excellent quality for the money. Brand names are better, but these days, only marginally better for a new player.

If you're concerned about having to press hard on the acoustic strings and it digs in your fingers, there are finger protectors that go on top of your fingers, here is what I bought before:
