Note these are the Samba "Classic" model (an indoor soccer shoe) and not the fashion "OG" model. You'll find the tongue is very large and many end up cutting it short.

  • If you want to shorten the tongue, you can just fold it to the inside method. I did that with one of my Sambas and feels fine. Don't cut it. It will feel like a little bump on top of your foot at first but over a few wears, it will flatten out. I have a short tongue with leather inside lining classic Samba and a long tongue with fabric inside lining classic Samba as well as the Messi black & gold Samba with the short leather tongue, leather inside lining and more premium features. I actually prefer the fabric lining because it doesn't rub so harsh on the back of my achilles heel like the leather lining during sport activities. Just 2 weeks ago, I got a blister on my left achilles heel from my Adidas Predator with leather lining after 2 hours of my first time wearing and never ever got that once from my Adidas Samba classic with its softer fabric lining. If I am doing sport activity with either Samba/Predator with leather inside lining, I will always wear polyester sports socks from now on as it is a smooth silky sock (less irritation). With fabric lining, I can wear cotton socks fine. If one doesn't do any sport activity and just casual, one can wear whatever sock they want and it shouldn't be an issue.

I just cut the tongue on mine right below the "Adidas Samba" patch. Theyve held up well, have had them for a few years playing indoor soccer. Samba Classic (these ones here) are regularly much chapter than the OG. Can usually find them for $70 compared to OG which are pretty much always $100, though you can find them in just about every colorway compared to the originals which are just black and white.
