- Phone sales tax- due at sign up.
- Monthly Taxes. Like someone mentioned can be as high as $9/line per month
- Activation fees. Apparently $40 per line, but maybe you can get waived?
- Verizon has historically said allow 1-2 billing cycles for discounts to appear. Well, if they don't appear be prepared to spend multiple calls and hours to try and get them to honor their agreement.
- This service plan is the lowest unlimited so don't get the ultra wideband (faster 5g) or hot spot.
- to take full advantage of the discount you have to keep the lines for 3 years. That's a long time to be locked in. Theoretical scenario: if you pulled all 4 lines out after 2 years would owe around $1500 for the phone pay offs.
While a good price, I think they are trying to get you to sign up, and then bc you'll be frustrated with the lower plan will upgrade at a significant cost ($40/line instead of $25).
This reddit post [reddit.com] explains data prioritization for the 3 major carriers and the MVNOs on them.
Fed Universal Service Charge: $0.41
Regulatory Charge: $0.21
Admin & Telco Recovery Charge: $3.78
CA State 911 Surcharge: $0.41
CA State 988 Surcharge: $0.08
CA Universal Service PPP Fee: $0.90
Emerg Comm Acc Tax: $3.22
City UUT: $0.28
Total charges per line = $9.29
It's still a really good deal if you're in the market for new iPhones

Yeah, but here's the thing with the 1st option - what if that "provider T" ends their promotion for paying off the phone?
Not talking about trade in credits. Talking about their promotion to buy out and pay off phones to bring people over to their service.
Another scenario.
Take the deal. Sign up for provider T but don't cancel V. Provider T sends you prepaid visa cards for cell phone payoff. Don't use for phone payoff, instead just keep letting provider V give you the monthly credit.

$363 (Taxes on four devices in state of Texas)
Due monthly:
$165.81, but if you do autopay from a bank account (no CC accepted for the discount, unless you use the Verizon CC
Also, I ended up doing the chat with the rep, and he removed the $40 activation fee on each line, as well as walked me through the process of signing up for the $300 gift card. Took about an hour.
GO FOR IT!!

If I'm reading this correctly, it's:
- Roughly $185 for SoCal taxes on purchase
- 3 x months = $560 (roughly $140/month after fees and crap)
- 1 x month of T/magenta = $140
Total after 4 months = $885
Is that right? I can't find anything on T/magenta's website that says how long we must stay after they pay off the phones????

Also, did you waive off the activation fee after buying the plans or before that?

So I put all my phones in my cart and entered the numbers, and was to the point of entering personal information when I decided to start the chat with the rep. Turns out they start from scratch - "what colors; are you bringing you own numbers; do you want protection; do you want this that...."
So, it's like they are walking through the cart process and filling stuff in. My advice: just click the chat thing first and get started. It's slow going, but IF it all works out, it'll have been worth my time.
