Community Reviews
This ASUS TUF F16 is a strong value gaming laptop for 1080p and 1200p play, pairing an i7 14650HX, RTX 5070, 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM, Thunderbolt 4, Windows Hello, and a 90Wh battery. The mil spec chassis and larger non OLED 16 inch screen add to its appeal, and the delivered unit confirmed the 1TB drive. The main concerns are the heavy chassis, the Walmart spec sheet confusion, and repeated hinge durability complaints on prior TUF models. The 8GB mobile GPU memory also limits confidence for 1440p gaming, especially in newer titles.
Players who want a 1200p gaming laptop with enough storage, because the RTX 5070 is considered fine at native resolution and the delivered unit confirms a 1TB SSD.
Gamers wanting a durable 16-inch machine, because the chassis feels mil-spec, the battery is strong, and the RTX 5070 plus faster CPU make it a solid performer.
Buyers who value a sturdier alternative to thin gaming laptops, because it is described as more durable than an Omen and better than other cheap gaming models.
People who want a heavier laptop with a bigger battery and a non-OLED screen, because it trades portability for more runtime and a larger display.
1440p gamers who want high settings in modern titles, because the mobile RTX 5070's 8GB VRAM can bottleneck and cause problems at that resolution.
Buyers who need a long-term hinge-safe laptop, because the hinge assembly can break and repairs may require replacing parts.
People who carry their laptop often, because it is significantly heavier than a Legion 5.
Upgraders expecting a lightweight premium feel, because the chassis is described as flimsy by some and the machine is heavier than competing options.

Other than that, Acer laptops are pretty much garbage IMHO. MSI is not much better (apropos of nothing). Only reason I'm looking at (and ordered) one of these is that I'm ready to give Asus a go. I've had good luck with their Mobo's and GPU's in the past. Doesn't mean their laptops are going to be great, though.

Another option around this price is the Legion 5, currently $800 at Microcenter. But the speakers are absolute trash.
