This Game Pass Essential code is mainly attractive for stacking time or converting into Ultimate, but the redemption math is the big catch. The code has been reported to turn into about 3 months for current Ultimate subscribers, while a fresh redemption can extend Ultimate to 90 days or convert to Essential time if support adjusts it. The official conversion rate is also being cited as 40 percent for Ultimate, which makes the value hard to pin down. It is a workable way to add subscription time, but the final result depends heavily on the account state.
Players who sample lots of short games, because the subscription can be cheaper than buying titles they finish once and never replay.
Console multiplayer fans who need voice and text chat, because Essential unlocks online communication for games that require a subscription.
Families with multiple players, because one subscription can cover a lot of playtime and reduce the cost of buying each game separately.
Players who only keep a few games active, because Essential can be a cheaper way to stack time than staying on Ultimate.
Players who want to stack years of membership, because redemption may be capped by conversion rules and can land far below the advertised 12 months.
Current Ultimate subscribers who expect full 12-month value, because redemption can shrink to about 90 days instead of a year.
Gamers who prefer owning and reselling their library, because the subscription stops access when payment ends and does not leave you with a permanent copy.
People who rarely play online, because paying for Essential adds little value when single-player games do not need the subscription.

It's funny you mention options, because the end goal of these greedy farks is to ensure that you won't have options in the future. The best way to ensure you no longer have an option is to keep forking over your money for literally nothing in return.
Yeah, you prefer convenience but at what cost? Consumerist pigs drag everyone down with them because they're too stupid to spend their money wisely - they only think about the base level transaction of how much convenience they get today. How convenient would it be to just be able to walk into a teleporter to go anywhere you want to go? But you won't think of all the exercise you'll never get. You won't regret your decisions until you have a stroke from poor cardiovascular health. That is the problem with people mindlessly consuming without giving a single thought about the long term ramifications of their purchasing behavior.
An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Subscription pigs should be shamed for their contribution towards the death of this industry.
Edit: nvm, this is a better deal for pc game pass $32 for 3 months

Look at Netflix today, are people truly happy with the service like they were 10 years ago? I think there is a growing sentiment that it has gotten worse in quality as the price increases.
How about Amazon? How many people are asleep at the wheel and just keep paying for Prime because "it's what I and everyone else have done for years"? How many people think they're still getting "guaranteed 2 day shipping?". How many people think the only way to get free shipping from Amazon is to pay for Prime? How many people just assume that Amazon has the best prices and order everything from them without a moment of effort to look at other shops? How many shops have died off because Amazon frontloaded their losses to gain market share like Microsoft is doing with Games Pass?
People need to start thinking about the hidden costs more. Even a free item isn't truly free because we have to spend time, energy and space just dealing with it.
