For those of us that are long-time Gold members, then Ultimate members used to topping up 3 years at a time for $150, this still feels bad

Man, the amount of "late stage capitalist greedy fascist pig" language used in this post is hilarious. Just move on folks. It's a deal given the current context of the market. Buy it or don't. B**** and moan about how evil capitalism is in Venezuela, or Cuba, or some other socialist he**hole.

Man why didn't I just get 10 years worth!
Because they limited it to 3 years. My current stint ends in August. With my unplayed steam library and how little I play online, I don't see compelling reasons to continue my gamepass subscription.

I signed up for the $1 gamepass for one month the other day. Do I have to cancel that or can I stack on top and full convert?

Just accept that you'll own nothing already, stop resisting! This is a good deal!
Thank you Mr. Spencer. I will now pay monthly for the privilege of using things I don't own for a short time. I will truly be happy.

I'm curious how old you are because no, Blockbuster was not the start. Before Blockbuster there were local video rental stores everywhere. And you did not OWN movies back in the day. Movies on VHS were expensive - like $80 back in the eighties and nineties before dvds released. But regardless, the great thing is people have OPTIONS. IF you want to "own" the video game, you can! Game Pass is not mandatory. Netflix is not mandatory. You can go out and buy all the phyiscal media you want. But some of us prefer convenience. It sounds like you do not. And that's fine. You do you.
I do not recall $80 VHS's in the $80's / 90's. I worked at Circuit C......

They don't know any better. They were groomed by capitalists. Consumption is all they know.
You're literally on a deals site. Way to take a stand against consumerism!

Yes, for me it converted it for less. Now I have to shows April, so I think 3 months.
My converted to April also. It was 3 months and a couple of days. According to the conversion rate of 40% it should be 146 days not a little over 90.

What better way than to stop people who mindlessly purchase things because it's on "sale". Don't you agree?

Stupid distinction. I used Blockbuster because that's what the poster used to represent rental stores.

It's funny you mention options, because the end goal of these greedy farks is to ensure that you won't have options in the future. The best way to ensure you no longer have an option is to keep forking over your money for literally nothing in return.

Yeah, you prefer convenience but at what cost? Consumerist pigs drag everyone down with them because they're too stupid to spend their money wisely - they only think about the base level transaction of how much convenience they get today. How convenient would it be to just be able to walk into a teleporter to go anywhere you want to go? But you won't think of all the exercise you'll never get. You won't regret your decisions until you have a stroke from poor cardiovascular health. That is the problem with people mindlessly consuming without giving a single thought about the long term ramifications of their purchasing behavior.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Subscription pigs should be shamed for their contribution towards the death of this industry.
I have a few subscription streaming services, so I'm not a purist, but I agree and tip my hat to you and your gusto.

Appreciate the sentiment and your honesty. Everyone has used subscriptions, myself included. We all know the playbook these companies use now; it always ends in enshitification. I recognize that people are going to take a long time to ween themselves off of these things as we tend to get overly dependent on them. I just want people to take a step back for a second and think about the long term effects.

Look at Netflix today, are people truly happy with the service like they were 10 years ago? I think there is a growing sentiment that it has gotten worse in quality as the price increases.

How about Amazon? How many people are asleep at the wheel and just keep paying for Prime because "it's what I and everyone else have done for years"? How many people think they're still getting "guaranteed 2 day shipping?". How many people think the only way to get free shipping from Amazon is to pay for Prime? How many people just assume that Amazon has the best prices and order everything from them without a moment of effort to look at other shops? How many shops have died off because Amazon frontloaded their losses to gain market share like Microsoft is doing with Games Pass?

People need to start thinking about the hidden costs more. Even a free item isn't truly free because we have to spend time, energy and space just dealing with it.

Can anyone who already has Ultimate confirm what the conversion was after they redeemed? I'm seeing some say 3 months and others say 5.
I bought this deal and got 3 months.
