These are great if you are nervous about getting your door kicked in or you have wandering toddlers who can turn a deadbolt. Only downside is having to explain how they work to your guests who struggle to figure out the mechanism

Agreed. We got them since our toddler learned how to open the front and back door. But guests do struggle lol

I guess that shows they work. If it were easy to figure them out, kids would only need to get a footstool to defeat them.

Honest question: If kids and possibly guests can't figure out how to open it and it's on your front and back doors - is it much different in concept of risk than using a double cylinder deadbolt, which is illegal to do in many places because then people can't get out during a fire?
