How are these compared to the Similac and Enfamil branded ones?
Excellent. You can compare the ingredients and nutrition %s on the sides of each container -- Kirkland matches or even exceeds the % of Similac/Enfamil. But don't take my word for it if you're worried, go check! My two babies have had zero issues with this brand. The $ savings is incredible over time... highly recommend.

It's actually more complicated than the nutrition label. For example, the label only says protein 2.07g. But some LO don't tolerate milk proteins well. They need hydrolyzed formula. But hydrolyzed formula is thinner, so some LO spit up more. Palm oil is another controversial topic.
There is no better or worse. Only matters is your LO likes it or not. My LO needs hydrolyzed formula in his first 3 months, and has to be Similac total comfort rather than enfamil gentleease. But now, he's taking the Kirkland formula just fine.
