Best Buy open box condition is very store dependent. Go in store and check it out before purchasing. Ymmv

You can actually do in store pickup and when you get there tell them don't finalize the pickup until you inspect it. If you don't like it, have them cancel the order rather than buy and return it. In the past, best buy keeps track of how many returns you do and can deny you returns if you do too many. Not sure if it's still true.

Laptop prices are insanely cheap recently. And in the face of ram pricing doesn't make sense. Either prices are going to zoom after new year or ram prices will come back down to earth

Laptops are cheap because they aren't selling because the economy is either already affecting them or they are worried it might.

RAM prices are sky high not because of consumer demand, but because the major AI players are spending billions on datacentres. These laptops were all built months ago, with COGS based on when RAM was cheap. It's not like the vendors can just remove the RAM chips and sell them elsewhere.
