Yes. The XM5 doesnt have a foldable headband and is known to break at the swivel points. I wouldnt buy this. The XM4 goes on sale under $200 frequently and is IMO a better headphone than the XM5.

I have both and I like the XM5 better. The 4's can break and there are also reports of the 6's breaking now too since they have been out for a little bit. All Sony headphones seem to have issues.
Make sure they are comfortable for your head shape. I got these a couple years ago and they are great except for the headband. Too thin and light on the padding. The top of my head hurts after 3 hours. My Soundcore Space Ones are 3x more comfortable and I can get through a while day at work with them. Maybe I have a conehead.
The XM5 over the ear headphones are very prone to breaking at the hinges. This is a very known issue. They sell after market replacement hinge kits, but sony themselves will not fix it under warranty. if you go over to the sony headphones subbreddit, every third post is about the XM5 hinges breaking. It seems that Sony may have changed something on later production runs of the XM5s, because the people that seem to have the most problems with the hinges are people that about after the first year or so from what I have seen on that subbreddit, though I guess we can never truly know for sure.
There are also people that have XM4 hinges break, though it is no where near the amount that have been written about as the XM5s. There will be people that also have XM5s that don't take care of their headphones, throw them around, don't put them in any kind of case during travel etc... but never have issues. But then there are other XM5 owners, who literally baby their stuff, and have breakage just on putting them on. The XM6s seem to have some other issue, but it still might be to early to tell if they are widespread.

I have had two sets bought the second set before the hinges on the first set broke. Both sets broke within 9 months. There is now a class action suit filed against sony for this issue.

As someone else already pointed out, the problem is significantly worse on the XM5.
Why are the Sony XM line so popular if they all seen to have issues? The Bose line doesn't get as much attention on SD when they have better quality? Maybe because the Sony sounds much better so it's worth the gamble?
These are very good deals only if handled with care. If you're rouhg, you can see it breaking from the swivel point & the money flushed into the toilet !

Mine are fine, but haven't really used them much, used a refurb from Secondipity and had been like new.
It's a real shame Sony doesn't back up this design flaw. I would highly look into the XM4 or Bose products vs putting money here.
