100watt max per port
laptops with 130 watt chargers (common), and anything else higher than 100 watts.
Seems like you can do 4x 65w devices which is nice. Or 2x 100w laptops and maybe 2 phones. There will never be a charger that i cannot easily fill up.
I can't actually say if it takes any longer, but when purchasing new, Dell gives you the option of which charger you want to buy, 100W or 130W (+$13) during configuration before check out. I saved the money got the 100W because I had a 130W regular charger and a PD 100. .I also confirmed with Dell and they said either wattage was fine.

All of the laptops where this would be an issue have high end RTX GPUs in them and cost over $2k.
Not including the right power supply to actually use the full capabilities of the system is just petty.

yeah theres no standards so its kind of a crapshoot unless you just intimately know your stuff. i have 3 laptops, 2 dell, one dell only works with 130+ and the other works with anything i throw at it. like you describe.
Just gotta be real careful.

The laptop ("Pro Max Premium" which is a new and stupid name for the old Precision line), was well north of $2k ($2.6k) but it appears to work well with either a 130W or a 100W regular power supply or 100W PD.
As I mentioned, Dell has both 100W and 130W power supplies on the configuration page where they give you the opton. As I mentioned, I also confirmed it with the sales rep before finalizing the purchase and was told either power supply is fine.

Why the $13 upsell?
I can't imagine one being travel size while the other is a huge gaming laptop brick.

You're also completely right... Why scavenge another $13? Made no sense to me so I didn't pay it and took what was offered.....
It was expensive and they were making money hand over fist on it, so yeah, why the cheap out???
BTW - that price was cut to the bone in many ways (small SSD but 32GB of memory). They wanted $670 MORE to upgrade to a 2TB SSD, so I bought a 2TB 990 Pro on my own for $160 (complete)... Yeah, just bend me over.... No thank you!
I completely missed your point! Duh....

Same way Apple and Samsung no longer include chargers with their flagship phones.
They don't even receive any accountability if a poorly built aftermarket charger ruins the device, because USB-C requires negotiation to charge.
