What do you expect in a puffer jacket. 100% silk?

90% tiger scrotum with a splash of 10% elephant taint.

Traditionally real "Puffer" jackets always had down or feathers as their main component (hence the lateral stitching design to keep the internal contents from bunching).

I've noticed that over the last 5-10 years you really have to stick with quality brands to get down in puffer coats. I used to find them in Walmart versions of puffers but now I only see polyfill.

REI and Eddie Bauer had some fairly affordable down options.

yep, you're not wrong! Hence my negative sentiment toward the enshittification with these plastic-heavy garments.

Eddie Bauer were one of the originals to make the true puffer down jackets

Their mistake was offering all those hideous colors in the first place
Prices for anything halfway decent looking in mainstream sizes and colors are not great
