Whos giving this a thumbs up? $150 for an old WiFi 6e router is not a good deal. You can get tri band wifi 7 routers with all 2.5gb ports for this price.

Show me where and please don't post Chinese made honeypot routers. Netgear or Asus only.

This system has famously good coverage and range, I don't know of any WiFi 7 system that comes close. Unless your home internet is 1 gig or more, and you actually have WiFi 7 devices (I.e not MacBooks) you won't see any benefit over WiFi 6, while you might notice the fan noise may WiFi 7 systems have. The main downside to this beast is how ugly it is.

I'm assuming you're referring to tplink, probably should do your research on that and what is actually proven. I'd take a tplink over Netgear any day.
You can get a few different models of tplink that the specs I mentioned at this price regularly on sale. Costco sells at this price permanently (though the Costco version only has 3 2,5gb ports: https://www.costco.com/p/-/archer...4000342316), you can get cheaper when Amazon has a sale.

Don't like tplink you can get the GL-BE9300 when it's on sale for $150, don't like that one you can get pretty close with the asus rt-be92u on sale at best buy with a recycle coupon, get an old modem from the goodwill for $2 and you'll get 15% off the sale price at Best buy.

Or you can stick with Wi-Fi 6 and get something $50 cheaper for two routers: https://slickdeals.net/f/18989233-asus-zenwifi-et9-white-2-pk-for-99-99-at-asus

I think the design is beautiful! I have a used RAX120v2 and it still works great.

I always read a lot of negative reviews about netgears and then I don;t want tp link and other chinese brand ones. sucks because I have $87 dell rewards and they dont carry asus.

Except in the first six months of a new product, I've had really good experiences with both Netgear and Asus.
I've never had this router, but I came close to buying it once and did a lot of research and I remember it being one of the best you could get in terms of range and performance. It just didn't pass the wife test. i.e. too noticeable sitting on the bookshelf that I installed in the middle of our house to improve our Wi-Fi.

do you know if netgear routers typically let you adjust tx/transmit power like asus does? apparently amazon ones dont and some other brands dont.

I am currently using an old router I had boxed up because the newer one broke... and funny enough it is doing good enough. lol. but its wifi speed is 40mbps. I just havent downloaded much lately so it really hasnt mattered, so I just keep being patient hoping for a decent one for under $100.

I appreciate the response -- you put a lot of effort into it, hence I bough the tp-link 🙂

i have the rax54. that thing a beast. I got fiber. I can pull 500mbps of 1 gig 2 rooms over and 150mbps in backyard. ive gotten 5mbps 1 time at the end of the block. wifi 6 is still solid choice if you get the high end products. alot of wifi 6e and wifi 7 products (looking at you tplink) are cheaping out on wifi hardware in favor of low prices and giving you all the latest specs.

That's pretty mid. I have the BE86U and hit 800-1200mbps in the entire house on wifi 6 depending on room in a 3 floor condo. It gets crazy low latency too, I ping 23ms on my phone. My wired line pings around 15ms and is stable 1200mbps.

You can try to get better speeds on wifi 6. Download a wifi analyzer app on your phone from app store. Roam the house with the app open while reading the readouts and this will help you optimize for the best channel. After you find the best channel with the least interference, login your router and adjust them accordingly to match in the wifi settings. This will make a huge difference if you live in an area where there is a lot of wifi networks in your area. My wifi picks up about 10+ networks that aren't mine and all of them are overlapping each other on the same 2 channels. This is because most don't know and just leave it on default channel, which causes congestion when everyone does it.

This is my connection on the 2nd floor, router is in the basement, 1st floor:

they might indeed be mid compared to new stuff. as someone who sets up ppls wifi with whatever system they give me to set up, seeing 500mbps would be a dream come true for me. the average i see is 150-300mbps. got a deco x68 and right infront of router i see 150mbps and that wifi 6 supposedly 3x3 radio lol. or a deco x5700 pulls 600-800 in front of router. so when my rax54 pulls full 1gig in front of router and 500 2 rooms over im impressed.

in my current set up anything important is hardwired. nothing in my set up supports 160mhz either so getting 500mbps on my cellphone 2 rooms away is more then enough.

on to Your BE86U it has definitely has a better cpu, more ram, and newer software, and maybe other higher hardware. this would definitely give you better speeds then me. also the construction of our living spaces too.

My whole point is wifi 6 is still very capable for majority of ppl including me.
