Recommended Processor: Video Editing

I'm out of touch with processors. Last I bought for myself was an i7-8700k. My fiancée uses Davinci Resolve and other video editing softwares regularly.What should I look for in a processor? Single core speed or core count?
Intel or AMD?
i5 or i7 or i9?
Weak or problematic generations to avoid?
I hear great things about Apples M chips and she likes Macs but I'm concerned about the lack of a discrete graphics card. She also renders and games Disney DreamLight valley at 1440p. Input is appreciated!
