Purchased a very similar one via the walmart deal last week and returned it next day. Windows update failed three times to install the necessary firmware updates available for the machine and then it reset itself back to the initial windows welcome screen.

Looks good for office work. Any negatives for this laptop?

Can I install Linux and play games on it?

I know SteamOS on Arm will be using the FEX translation layer to run x86 applications so I'm curious if I can do the same on this one but with a different distro?

Bought the wife an ASUS from costco with the snapdragon X and its incredible, the battery life is just ... wow. However in this package with HP parts I'd probably not do it, I returned 3 HP's to costco in a row because all the touchpads were cheap junk. HP quality control has really gone to hell.

The ones directly made by Microsoft are pretty nice as well.

I just bought the 16 inch version of this, the microphone doesn't work and HP's qualcomm drivers won't install. Outside of that, it's a very nice machine with a good screen, a very comfortable keyboard and looooong battery life. Unfortunately Amazon will not do a replacement on the unit and it is now $150 more. So I either have to return it or sort it out with HP.

I didn't see an available firmware update for my unit. It definitely needs it. The windows updates went fine. I'm not surprised though, Windows 11 is a mess and apparently so is HP.

I'm comparing 16" version of this laptop I bought from Amazon to the 13" Samsung galaxy book AMOLED on the left side. Disappointed by HP OLED screen on the right. Do I need to change some settings to make it better?

Blame Apple macbook. They were the first that does this back in the older macbook pro.

I have the OmniBook X Ai (also Snapdragon) and it has been an absolute dream. I use it for work currently (infrastructure engineering) and programming (read Python and Docker based). It's handled everything I've thrown at and has lasted the day without me being tethered to my wall outlet/external battery. I feel Arm on Windows has gotten a bad rap, but for most people, it's the happy medium between a Chromebook and a more power hungry x86 laptop.

You have to pause update for a week, or if it is already set at a week, change it to 2 weeks. Restart the machine and go back to windows updates and then install all updates again. I got this answer on reddit somewhere, and it worked for me.
