New to magsafe. How would one charge a phone from this? Does a standard qi2 puck fit in the opening?
I have a Lisen version of this that has a charger built in. It does work, however the cord fits into the MagSafe plate so when you adjust the angle the cable goes with it and it can block important buttons depending on mount location. Would have been great if they'd designed it to plug into the base instead. It's easier for me to just plug power into the port and then the cable moves with the phone.

this is a pretty strong magnet as far as this type of product go.
however, if the surface isn't perfectly flat and smooth, the adhesion of the base is poor.
After this, I bought a different version from them that can stick onto a slightly curved surface, but the magnet adhesion was worse, lol. I guess you can't expect both at this price point.
But for the price, and if you have a flat surface, I highly recommend this

I have the charge version of this and the hinge broke under normal commute use within the first year. Nothing crazy - and I never moved it. Just normal stress.

Same. Their hinge design isn't great. the plastic base surrounding the lower hinge pin eventually cracked on mine causing it to lose any resistance and go floppy and useless. of course if this had a metal base, it probably wouldn't be $6
