Did you enter a proper shipping address? This isn't just a code they email you, so you need to be able to receive a physical shipment at the address. If your address was the same with Walmart and BB you'd be subject to the same tax and I'd be surprised you weren't charged.
Yes, it is the exact same,

This is better than Walmart as Walmart charge sales tax
BB charging me tax.

Sam's Club does not offer free shipping unless you're a Plus member AND spend $50. So Deluxe alone would not get free shipping.
You're partially correct. Free shipping is only for those with plus membership. However, shipping is calculated on the pre-discount price of $59.88 which qualifies with only Quicken Deluxe in the cart.

The comments on Best Buy's site say it works for existing customers but can only be added within 6 months of expiration of existing subscription. I usually wait until after the existing subscription expires anyway.
If the subscription expires, then are you not required to buy a new subscribers only software? What about your existing connections? They need to be setup again?

Well, that's an interesting twist!

I just ordered with free shipping & I don't have a plus membership.

With Deluxe and higher, Quicken still works without a subscription with the exception of online services, but there is a big annoying nag screen. When you renew access to use the online services are restored. I believe all the connection information remains for a period of time. I haven't had needed to link all accounts again after a lapse of a month or two. Occasionally individual account links need to be reset anyway.

This is great. I purchased early this week at $69 and got it delivered today. It's a box with an activation card inside.

Go to Help ->Manage Your Subscription ->Enter Activation Code for 1-yr subscription.

I was able to login my BestBuy account and requested for pricematch, pending BestBuy's confirmation via email.

That's interesting. I don't use the bank/online accounts anyway.

I'm still using an old, non-subscription 2017 Deluxe version on a Windows 10 machine. It would be easier to have one on my Mac Mini.

I was using the 2017 Deluxe for the longest time, until they offered free Quicken with purchase of TurboTax. Havnt seen that deal for a while but they got me hooked with online transaction download. At least Best Buy offers discount codes all the time. Got one this morning $10 and promptly ordered.

I bought for Walmart they chewed sales tax. When I check out this no sales tax.
I can confirm that I just placed an order via Walmart and they didn't charge sales tax. I guess, it is software subscription and not physical goods which is why they didn't charge.

Data point, in terms of waiting for better discounts: based on advice from reddit, I chatted with a quicken CS rep, to see if they could do better. They offered $115 to renew my Classic Personal & Business... vs. the current Staples / Walmart / BestBuy deals at $79 for renewal keycards.
So I guess I'm not holding my breath for $60-69 renewals, like in previous years.
My biggest savings may be to eventually drop back to Premiere or Deluxe. Quicken has made it more & more difficult to compare versions in recent years, but from what I can tell, unless you're using anything more advanced than the basic reports, there's very little benefit to going higher than Deluxe (or Premier, which is sometimes cheaper.) Even "Starter" has most of what I need - it's just the absence of investment tracking that's a deal-breaker.
I'm pretty sure "Business" just adds the ability to organize the sidebar into personal / business accounts, plus maybe some reports and invoicing that I don't need.

Heads up, the Best Buy (and probably other retailers) sale ends EOD today, so get it if you're on the fence.

Looking back at the last few years, it's been around $30+tax, and before that, even a few $20 or $25 for 12 months. Guessing those days are gone since every subscription has been raising their prices.
