Great laptop, used it for about 2 months and just did a big benchmark showdown. Probably my pick for gaming laptop of the year (based on being a goldilocks laptop)

The Lenovo Legion 5 stands out as a strong all around gaming laptop with a bright 15.1 inch WQXGA OLED screen, solid Ryzen 7 260 and RTX 5060 performance, and easy upgradeability. The memory is reported as 16GB in one stick with no soldered RAM, and the chassis also has two SSD slots. The compact 15.1 inch size keeps it close to older 14 inch laptops, while the 80Wh battery and 4.4 pound weight make it reasonably portable. Main drawbacks are the Mediatek Wi Fi 7 card and a USB C charging wake issue. A capable pick if you want a portable gaming machine with room to grow.

  • The laptop offers upgradeable RAM and storage through open DIMM and SSD slots.

    jcom86ratherb1fatguypoolshark

  • The configuration is reported to balance CPU and GPU performance well for gaming use.

    jcom86fatguypoolsharkTechGuyBeau

  • The OLED display is described as beautiful with strong color coverage and high brightness.

    jcom86Nate650

  • The deal listing includes free shipping and a 30-day return window with seller-paid return shipping.

    Nate650

  • Model naming and configuration details reportedly cause confusion across Legion 5 variants.

    fatguypoolsharkSDJP2020

  • The Mediatek Wi‑Fi 7 MT7925 is reported to perform poorly and may require replacing the card.

    irollsolo

  • USB-C charging reportedly fails to resume after waking from sleep, requiring unplugging and replugging.

    irollsolo

  • The $999.99 price is challenged as not special because it can be found about $10 less directly from Lenovo.

This is the same price and model that Walmart had on sale briefly months ago. This is a good pickup. The RAM (8gb is soldered, 1 open DIMM), WiFi, and SSD can all be upgraded, the screen is beautiful and the GPU and CPU are fine for just gaming.
EDIT: I got this confused with another Legion 5 model. This one that OP posted is two DIMM slots and 2 SSD slots.

Nah this is 16 GB one stick, none are soldered. Not sure what laptop you are thinking of. Also has 2 SSD slots.

I agree completely. Unless you need a bigger screen or have a MUCH bigger budget, this is pretty much the best laptop of this year at sub 1500. Hell it's probably the best all around laptop period in that price range of any year for the past few. Massively overperforms the market.

The 15.1 screen size puts it close in size to older 14" laptops. This is a good all rounder.

Edit: is this a low wattage gpu for compact laptop?

There's so many darn variants of the Legion 5 it's hard to keep track of them all. I swear Lenovo said "ya let's release one for every market" and then just released them all globally to confuse buyers.

Read properly, man: https://slickdeals.net/f/18865543-lenovo-legion-5-15-1-oled-wqxga-165hz-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060-amd-ryzen-7-260-ai-gaming-laptop-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-2025-for-999-99

Ironically, it got downvoted when someone else posted it, but now it made it to the front page when a more common user posted it. This price is nothing special; you can even get this for $10 less directly from Lenovo: https://slickdeals.net/f/19020646-lenovo-legion-5-ryzen-7-260-15-1-wqxga-oled-165hz-rtx-5060-16gb-ddr5-512gb-ssd-989-99?p=181480666#post181480666

Also, this is just a repost of the OP's own post from a month ago: https://slickdeals.net/f/18858853-lenovo-legion-5-15-1-oled-wqxga-165hz-gaming-notebook-amd-ryzen-7-260-16gb-ram-512gb-ssd-nvidia-geforce-rtx-5060-eclipse-black-999-99-at-antonline
