According to many hours of my own internet research, these batteries are made in Japan, which basically means they are made by Panasonic/Sanyo. Just Eneloops with a different sticker. Same goes for Ikea Ladda batteries.

As I understand these are basically eneloop with a different sticker on them
They are absolutely not. They are made in Japan but their construction and performance is different.

If it's not made in Japan, it's not worth buying... for Ni-mh batteries that is. Big difference in quality/longevity. I still have 20+ year old Eneloops that are like-new!
Being made in Japan does not guarantee quality. Some of the worst NiMH are made in Japan, as well as the best (Eneloops).

They are made in Japan but they're not rebranded Eneloops. Their construction and performance is different. Even among batteries that are rebranded Eneloops, some of them are nowhere near the quality of actual Panasonic Eneloops.

Yes, they do. [amazon.com]

I feel all rechargeable batteries that aren't Eneloop (or "rebranded Eneloops") give rechargeable batteries a bad name. People buy low-quality rechargeable batteries and get a bad experience, which causes them to swear off rechargeable batteries.
Eneloop batteries have a low discharge rate (it's even mentioned on their wikipedia page [wikipedia.org]), so that they can sit on your shelf/drawer ready for use when you need batteries; I hated my old Duracell/Energizer rechargeable batteries that were always dead when I needed to replace batteries in my devices, so I went with Eneloops and never looked back.
If you're new to rechargeable batteries, please save yourself the hassle and just buy Eneloop (there's regular slickdeal posts about sales).

Sorry to hear that you spent "hours of internet research". I just read the label of the battery.
It says "Made in Japan for Energizer brands".

Good point. I put Eneloop batteries on a wireless keyboard. I almost never have to replace them. They last a long time. But just now, your message just reminded me to change the batteries.

Deal seems dead. I can't get one time coupon to show. Looks like they split it into two different products. One time for 9.29 or S&S for 13.87

You'd have to list your source on that one. Because there is only one Ni-Mh consumer battery factory in Japan and it's owned by FDK. So if its a AA or AAA and says made in Japan it's all coming from the same factory.

Yes, they do. [amazon.com]
So it's quite interesting. There are two store fronts, one is EBL Offical, no negative rating and it doesn't have a single Li Ion rechargeable listing everything is NiMh. What you have linked to is a different store front called 'EBL Pro' which is not 100% ve ratings a different address in China, feels like a scam listing; they do have li Ion listing like the one you posted above. This is from a quick 10 min research, I'm sure other people know better.

Since they're NiMH, does that mean they're only 1.2v instead of 1.5v? I used to praise EBL for their 1.5v AA rechargeable until they sent me two batches of defective product, won't reasonably honor their warranty, and continue to charge me for defective product I bought 7/2025.

Are they any good? EBL has a warranty, buy you have to pay shipping. I've been down that road before; you pay to ship the item back and they send you defective product that you have to pay to ship back. Amazon explicitly states to not ship defective lithium batteries back, but continues to charge me (3 times so far) for them.

I use these regularly for 3 TV remote controls. I coincidentally just had 4 of them die today after about 4 years of use.

The 12 year-life estimate is greatly exaggerated, but at this price, you will get more than your money's worth out of them. They don't seem to output for as long as regular alkaline batteries, but I have been happy with making that sacrifice to avoid putting dozens of regular batteries into the local landfill or wherever batteries are supposedly "recycled".
