Breathability is so much better in a non-waterproof shoe, especially when it is hot. Sweaty feet are asking for blisters. I only wear my waterproof hiking shoes in the rain/snow.

Don't buy waterproof if you want breathability. I'm in the same boat as you, so I steer clear of shoes like these.
