I bought this model and returned it because you can't side load apps. You can't even install downloader.

I got the max for $20 last year. Give it away two month later. The screen is just full of ads. Everywhere you go there were pointless ads. Sometimes I would get ads for the thing I am watching. Then it kept resetting my preferences etc. never buying the dumpster fire sticks again.

No you don't get the traditional channels like regular live tv. They do have alot of free live tv that is maybe not as desirable and has ad after ad. It's not bad if you don't want to pay to watch anything.
