Please make sure the distance between the two sensors is less than 1 inch when the garage door is closed. Sensor with wire.

couple things of note. If you use HomeKit it's crucial to do the firmware updates but this device also does not play well with UniFi APs so you might have to use a different AP to get the firmware update done.
(A) you do have to run that wire across the garage and mount the pair of magnets, and
(B) you don't have to worry about needing to power the sensor.
I've had this for a little less than a year now, and I like it. It's been reliable and was easy to install.
