Have yet to use this after several years. The few times it might have worked it was impossible to push in hard enough to turn without stripping so I ended up having to move things to make more room for a different tool

These have a lower profile than the ones with swappable bits. So if you need something even smaller than those, these would be great.

This is a specialty tool, for all those clamoring about "why would you need this!!?!?"

Most people won't ever need something like this, as most people don't actually make or service anything in their lives. They simply consume and dispose.

But for those who work with their hands for a living instead of having Ayy-Eye do their homework for them, tools like these are born out of necessity. This is a tool for the person that sees it and goes "YES! That'll make my life easier!" If that's not you, don't worry. Just go back to Tick Tock or TheFaceBook and be happy.

Moving parts increase the risk of failure.
This tool is very thin, so what mechanism do you propose would work to keep the tool's low-profile design while staying sturdy even after multiple uses?

To expand on what some others said, these bits appear fixed so cannot fall out. You no risk of losing them or dropping them somewhere you cannot access (such as an area with little access to begin with). Sometimes dropping a bit into certain places can be disastrous, especially if they cannot be retrieved (or easily).

Not saying you would only need it in this scenario, but you would definitely encounter needing this if you were in some trade work.

The few times I've truly needed these, I was glad I had them.

Do you mean to depress the hidden "button" to remove the interior knob? (Asking because whatever brand is in our house this has been frustrating step )

Nice find. Didn't know these existed. Wish I did before painting all the doors in my house. It's surprising how easy it is to marr up and scratch the finish on brand new door knobs when you're installing them without this tool, even if you have a tiny ratchet wrench with the swappable bits the clearance tolerances are too high to avoid scratching the knobs easily. +1

So I hung a projector screen and it had to be flat to the wall. I had nothing to get back there and tighten the screw. I bought this set for like $12 and I thought my god this stupid tool saved me an hour and some cursing. It's in the toolbox and one of those rare ah-ha I have a tool for that.
