4g is likely at minimum 8 applications. For me that's like 6 years+
You can find tons of vids or instructions on how to apply on google

I am thinking about getting the MX7. I have been spreading the paste thin over my CPUs for the last 30 years. Should I start using that X method? It seems like a ton would just squeeze out.

Got the mx6 for $7.50 for 4g. Is the other one really worth $2 more? Wondering if I should get this instead

I want to say that LTT did a video comparing various application methods (pea, X, spreading, etc.). If I remember correctly, it didn't make much difference how you put it on; the important part was getting enough on for everything to be covered. Also, the MX-7 is non-conductive, so if it squeezes out because there's too much then all you have is something that doesn't look as pretty. It won't damage your motherboard.

No, there are better products for just a tiny bit more. The MX-7 is a good example, but if you want to spend less for a better product than this, look at the link posted in the comments earlier for the Frost X45.
