I highly doubt this will have any impact, but I highly highly recommend folks use dishwasher powder instead of pacs. It's better for the machine and does a much better job cleaning your dishes.

I will agree but only if you have hard water. The problem I have is it does not always dissolve properly so the machine needs to be run a second time thus I prefer the premeasured pods. If I am not mistaken these are the same as the Aldi brand which cost more??? I am just finishing my first container of these and I am impressed and I always used Cascade Platinum before.

I think it really depends on the dishwasher and the water supply. Mine does great with pods but terrible with powder.

Have you ever tested your water for minerals / solids? I have tested ours and it's 131 TDS (Total Dissolved Solids).
What 131 TDS Means
  • Excellent Quality: Water with 131 ppm is very good to drink, according to most guidelines.
  • Good Taste: It's in the sweet spot for palatability, often tasting better than very low or very high TDS water.
  • Low Contaminants: Suggests minimal dissolved salts, minerals, and organic matter, but not necessarily zero, which can be too pure (corrosive)
TDS levels in perspective:
  • < 50 ppm: Very low; can taste "empty". <--- 0 TDS is distilled water, great for lab use, coolant systems and rinsing vehicle finishes
  • 50-150 ppm: Excellent, crisp, refreshing. <--- Best for potable / tap / drinking water
  • 150-300 ppm: Good, but potentially slightly minerally.
  • 300-500 ppm: Acceptable (EPA upper limit), noticeable mineral taste, faster scale.
  • > 500 ppm: Poor to Unacceptable; salty, bitter taste, potential corrosion.
