Is it a good choice for garage cooking and deep frying in bulk to avoid smell in house?

For all things, I recommend induction cooker.Pros: more energy efficient.Cons: more expensive to buy. Need stainless steel or cast iron cookware

You'd want some type of ventilation in your garage. This is also 240V so make sure you have a plug for it.

They make propane burners and deep fryers if you want to do that outside.

Yes... this. I have an Induction cooktop in my house and it's FANTASTIC!!! If a magnet will stick to the bottom of the cookware, it'll be fine on your induction top.

Where does it say 240V, that's not very portable

That's a mistake, this is 120v. Nobody has 240v outlets to use random appliances.

If this is actually 240V, I suspect there will be a lot of returns. I haven't been able to confirm so far, but I'll keep digging.

Update: A seemingly equivalent listing at Walmart [walmart.com] shows 120V.
