How is it way better? Personally, I don't like rechargeable for thing like this where I only use a few times a year. And the times I need it, the battery isnt charged. I rather have it ready to go, and can easily pop in fresh batteries when needed.

I got these and the straps wear out quick and they won't fully tighten anymore.

Nah. Better to have replaceable (rechargeable) batteries:
  • you can use on longer trips where you need to bring multiple batteries (I always bring an extra battery for my headlamp on backpacking trips)
  • you can add a charged battery to this, so you know it will work, rather than finding it dead
  • can use the batteries for other things if not using this (it doesn't have to keep an unused battery sequestered)
  • if the battery dies, you can still use the device by just getting a new commodity battery
For my use cases, I try to avoid non-removable rechargeable whenever possible.

Counterpoint: These can sometimes not be used for a while. When they are used, they sometimes get a little bit of rain on them. If one battery leaks, it is ruined and needs to be thrown away. I can't tell you how many battery-powered headlamps I have been through.

I disagree bc they don't last long enough {for me}. I find that annoying, & then you gotta wait for it to charge. Glad I have two, but I'm going back to battery.

Like that they use AA and not AAA, I don't personally use AAA in much of anything anymore.

I bought these last time, they are not that bright, uncomfortable to wear and they don't move up or down to help see what you spotlight what your working on. Don't waste your money on these.
