Description says 2x2 inch ALUMINUM front upright. Shouldn't it be steel? Also the safety bars max height is 37 inch. Is that high enough? I love the small foot print and looks like 2-inch spacing between the 1-inch holes which is very helpful.

I would be surprised if they aren't steel. I don't have this unit but I have the mikolo M4 (original version) and I love it. Very versatile machine, also 2x2. 37" is basicallt 3 feet off the ground, I would imagine this would be sufficient for most.

Has anyone used this before? I am seeing a lot of positive feedback on the product page but wanted to see if anyone here owns one.

Aluminum is more expensive than steel. They make aircraft out of aluminum and it can hold more than you can lift so I wouldn't worry about it. Mikolo makes nice stuff. I have their M4 smith machine and haven't had any issues with it.

What about this one?
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Mikolo...3757993707

It has a centralized weight stack and a sturdier safety cage, which is nice. The main drawback is the 1:2 ratio instead of 1:1, so you'll need to load about twice as much weight to get the same resistance. The base price is more expensive ($1,019.99 vs $899.99), but the sale price is less ($411.99 vs $499.99). Thoughts?

I have this one that I got off of Temu for under $400 I believe, I like it. Pully system pretty smooth, does everything I need. I would never put 1000 pounds on it. I would feel comfortable with anything up to 400 pounds.

Thanks. I will check Temu. Is 1:2 ratio annoying?

This one appears to have 4-inch spacing between the 1-inch holes, while the OP has 2-inch spacing and smaller foot print as well.

Cuirous to see how sturdy this cage is and how well the pulleys work.

Kind of. I do need to load it up for lat excercises, I have plenty of crappy walmart weights I can use for that. They pully system seems to handle the weight fine.

I heard there is a way to change the ratio, I just never got around to messing with it.

Thanks

Does anyone have experience with this one? I know it's $800 but it has all I need.

You can also use the pulley trick to make it 1:1, but I haven't had an issue with 2:1. As.others have mentioned, lat pull down/low row means you have to stack a lot of plates. Depending on how much you can do, you may want thinner cast iron plates vs thicker bumpers to be able to use enough plates.

Wrt stability, can't speak to this unit, but my Mikolo M4 is stable. When using the smith bar with more than 200lbs, there's some wobble to the rack but nothing that makes me concerned it will topple. When using the pulleys I haven't noticed any wobble.

The other thing that's nice about the Mikolo units is they come with a lot of attachments/accessories that you would otherwise spend a good bit more to purchase. For example mine came with j-hooks, safety arms, land mine attachment, tricep ropes, dip handles, pulley handles, wide lat pull down bar, short curl bar.

If you plan on doing more than ~400lbs, would consider something stronger, otherwise I think the 2x2 stuff is fine for most.

I did swap the plastic pulleys out for aluminum but honestly it felt just as smooth with the plastic ones. The 18 pack of aluminum pulleys was ~$80 shipped on Walmart and didn't take very long to swap. Even easier if you sub them in as you build it vs post build (but still not hard to to post build.)

I was considering a similar machine, but read this reddit post on smith machine:
