I'm pretty sure you can buy this one for 99$ with battery and charger.

I use both Milwaukee and DeWalt at work, and to be honest I don't understand why Milwaukee is more expensive than DeWalt. DeWalt feels more premium and fresher. While Milwaukee feels cheaper and older. So I'd go with DeWalt, but you actually can't go wrong with any of them, as all of the big brands will serve you longer than you would want them to

If a recent video I watched on YouTube is accurate, the DeWalt chargers don't balance the batteries, and the batteries have very little in terms of onboard electronics, so they can't balance themselves. (The latter seems like a good thing to me, but the former seems absolutely nuts, especially considering the batteries have the appropriate pins!) That said, I haven't noticed premature degradation of my DeWalt stuff, but I'm a pretty light user.

FYI - I'm seeing a 10% coupon on the page that brings the price down to $76.21 before tax for me (may be targeted, YMMV).

I have the previous version of this from Dewalt (variable speed trigger in old version vs. selectable speed via switch on this version) and love their tool-less blade swap feature. If you're invested in the Dewalt 20v system this tool is a must-have for cutting and detail sanding.

I have Dewalt 20v tools for things requiring more power (sawzall, circular, high-torque impact, router, framing nailer, etc) and use the Milwaukee M12 for smaller, less power-demanding applications (bit drivers, jigsaw, ratchet, lights, etc). Both have been solid brands to work with - I've had tools repaired/replaced under warranty by both and the process was seamless. Really just comes down to needs and picking a battery system that has all the stuff you want/need.

Regarding the battery issues, I've got Dewalt 20v batteries that are 10+ years old now that continue to work just fine with no noticeable degradation in power or capacity. Never had one fail. YMMV of course but I haven't seen any issues from long-term usage.

I do the same!! The m18 stuff was just way too expensive, but dewalt doesn't make a small battery like the m12. ...except for the 6v screwdriver thing lol. I have the m12 ratchet and rotary tool and they're both compact and reasonably priced, the only red tools I own, all the 20v yellow stuff has been great too, just not as compact

I wonder how this compares to a Makita tool. I have one 6AH Dewalt battery and lots of Makita 2, 3, 4, and 5 AH.The single dewalt drill was a gift.

I work in commercial construction. Aside from milwaukee, I see many guys have hercules on their trucks as backup tools. Sometimes even as their main tools since hercules doesn't really get stolen on jobsites.
Their impact driver and oscillating tool have been amazing for me.

I recently decided to upgrade from an old Dremel and was deciding between this and the Makita XMT04ZB. On paper Dewalt seem to offer better value and I already have the batteries. But ultimately went with the Makita for the vibration control.

Lowes has the DEWALT XR 20-volt Max Oscillating Multi-Tool in a 6 -Piece set, with battery, charger and tool bag Included for $99. Much better deal IMO.

Taking into account all the hype around M12, I was considering the same setup (DeWalt 20V + Milwaukee M12), but I quickly realized that modern DeWalt 20V tools are the same size as Milwaukee M12, and sometimes even smaller (check the impact driver DCF850). So I don't think DeWalt 12V or Milwaukee M12 can compete with modern DeWalt 20V and will probably go extinct if they don't come up with some "killer features" for their 12V lines.

P.S. I also find the thickness of the Milwaukee M12 handle uncomfortable. I understand that it's a trade-off, since part of the M12 battery has to fit inside the handle, but that thick handle is just really uncomfortable for me, I don't know, maybe I have small hands

I second this, we have Hercules Impact Driver at work, and we love it, it's stronger than most of our Milwaukee and DeWalts, I believe it has 2150-2200 torque
