Plenty of one star reviews suggesting this isn't a good product. Connections drop off, it stops working after a short time, etc. You get what you pay for.
Looks like I purchased this in December 2024 to act as a backup for the handful of USB-C hubs I use at work and home. I didn't use it for the better part of a year until I had a need in November for a USB-C hub with a USB 2.0 port. I frequently hook my Steam Deck up to my TV, and found that 8BitDo's Ultimate 2C controllers have serious problems when you use the controller's 2.4Ghz adapter with USB 3.0 ports.
I'm not sure if the 8BitDo bug is specific to Linux or if it also affects Windows, but I would have the controller suddenly turn off at least 3-4 times an hour, randomly. I thought I had a defective controller, but the 2nd controller and adapter did the same thing. Turns out 8BitDo's 2.4Ghz dongles just hate USB 3.0 ports, with many users reporting this same bug on Reddit. Using 3 different hubs with only USB 3.0 ports produced the same issue.
This specific dock has 2x USB 2.0 ports, and works perfectly with my Steam Deck. After months of using it with those 8BitDo dongles, I haven't had them drop once. I've used it to output to my TV without issue for a couple months now, and provide power delivery to the Steam Deck and charging other random device. I wouldn't trust this for a long term dock, (most of these cheap docks burn out after a year or two, especially with power deliver) but it's absolutely fine for mobile usage. Sometimes old USB 2.0 ports are actually a good thing, like in my specific case.
