I'm sure these help, but if you put some rubbing alcohol (at least 70% but 90% is better) on a cotton ball and apply it to your cold sore several times a day (press hard, and yes, it burns!), it works very well in reducing the appearance and shortening the duration, and it's much, much cheaper.

How long do these last on the shelf?
I have the cream but its affective a couple of months after opening.

Touch wood, no outbreaks this season, but have been taking lysine supplements.

Valcyclovir can be taken the moment you start to feel a cold sore and then for a few days following and it will never break the skin . Amazing stuff. I would get cold sores that would last 2-3 weeks, bleed Everytime I ate etc. Now at the slightest itch/tingle....
