If you can find fresh cranberries near you at a good price, they're worth buying. Prices have gone up a lot lately — I used to find 1-lb bags 2 for $3 or even better in my region on sale at some stores.
A couple of months ago, I scored a great deal at Aldi: 12 oz of fresh cranberries for $0.99, which was amazing. They also last a long time if you use them gradually, like in green smoothies.
Fresh cranberries are hard to eat raw because they're so tart, but adding a little salt or cayenne pepper can make them more palatable if you want to eat them fresh.
