Yes Panther Lake and Ryzen 400 series laptops will not be cheap but still this feels like a bit high with a FHD+60Hz screen even with 32GB RAM and HX370. 700/750 would be a lot better.

The resolution/refresh are definitely a bit low, but it's OLED, and most games aren't going to exceed that combo on the iGPU.

I didn't see HX 370 coming in below $900 prior to now unless it's a mini PC.

Can someone recommend if this is better than the posted one. It's not comparable since the one I linked has 16". Otherwise I would like some opinion on cpu virtualization/ emulation performance and other specs please

Valid points for sure. Maybe mine is just wishful thinking

Acer 16 inch 3K 120Hz OLED 258V 16GB 1TB is now 799 (was 650 two weeks ago). Equally spec'ed with less RAM. If 32GB is not mandatory this one can be a valid candidate. Particularly if/when again on sale for 650.

Thank you, but other than ram, it is not a flip 2-in-1, I need a tablet / laptop due to travel needs.

Edit: I know the deal posted here is also not a flip laptop, but I was keen to know about the cpu performance.

Acer has 180 hinge while Asus is 360 so if there is a specific requirement/use case for form factor then it wont fit your needs.

Ryzen 400 is just a rebrand of Strix Point, nothing else. So, no reason for paying higher for the newer 400 series Ryzen APUs in the 1st place. Pather Lake on the other hand, is a different story.

I am really intrigued with the Panther Lake and B390 performance claim. I would say even +%50 over 890M is really great and Intel says it is +%70 and a bit more. I have noticed at BestBuy website for 1299 release MSRP for HP 16 inch 2K 120Hz VRR OLED with Ultra X7 358H(B390), 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD but it is now 1449.

B&H also taking pre-orders for 1299 MSI 14 inch 2-in-1 FHD 120Hz VRR OLED with Ultra X7 358H(B390), 32GB RAM and 1TB SSD. Panther Lake laptops are coming up but but their prices seems to quite discomforting RAMS and likely higher prices of first Intel 18A yields.

Not sure if this is the same laptop but slightly cheaper at Walmart. My bad it the same price.

Hopefully the new Intel CPUs are a lot better and will put downward price pressure on existing models. Things have been too pricey for quite a while. And the memory shortage isn't helping things either as companies jack up prices and profits with the shortage excuse.

I think AMD is planning to counter them using their newer lower cost Strix Halo chips, 392 (12C/24T) and 388 (8C/16T). Both have full 40CU iGPU models and strictly focus on gaming laptops and portable devices like Tabletand Handhelds. In Strix Halo, all the cores are Zen 5 Big cores unlike Strix Point, using mix of Zen 5 and 5C cores and they can reach Panther Lake performance or go very close to it in CPU front. In GPU front, that 40 CU RDNA 3.5 8060S is still a monster.
